I am running TS 10.5 under Windows XP Home on laptop w/512k RAM. When I try to hotsync to desktop, I get the following error message. Have uninstalled and reinstalled both programs, but it has not solved problem. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Error message:

Failed to DB_APIInitialize.

DB_ErrMsg=Could not start the database engine. There may not be enough memory to use it or the software may be improperly installed.
Restart your computer and try again. Reinstall if it fails again.

Hi,

I have never seen this exact error message but do have a couple of suggestions for you.

1) search for a file called tsdbap32.dll and then right click on it and select the version tab. This version number should exactly match the version of Timeslips that you are currently using. If it does not contact Timeslips support for the correct version of that .dll file. This is typically the cause of the "Failed to DB_APIInitialize" error.

2) are you using TS Remote or Timeslips, if Timeslips then are you sure the laptop has the Timeslips database or do you typically only use Timeslips at work and it connects to the database on a server at work? if so then TimeReporter for Timeslips can't synchronize to a database that isn't accessible and it is unlikely that Timeslips is usable when not connected to your network at work either

3) if the info in #1 and #2 didn't help then let us known which database type you are using (BDE or MSDE) and explain the configuration of where the database is located and if you connect to Timeslips databases on other PCs
