Hi,

I'm pleased to announce the beginning of a public beta program for the upcoming new major version of iambic Mail.

Version 3.0 adds the following features to the current 2.11:

- Complete attachment support: send and receive wirelessely any kind of file as email attachment from and to your PalmOS device (both smartphone and regular palm + cellphone configuration are supported). Please note: requires device with memory card capabilities (VFS)

- Unlimited message size: now capable of receiving emails of any size, where the only limit is the available memory

- Account filtering: emails are kept separate based on the account that received / sent them. For each account inbox, outbox, sent items, drafts folders are available.

- SMS Support: send and receive SMS messages just like as they are emails! If your device supports SMS messaging then a separate account will be available and will have its own set of folders. Please note: requires GSM smartphone or cellphone.

- High Resolution+ capable: now takes full advantage of the 320x480 screen size of Sony Clie NR70 and NR70V

- PalmOS 5 compatibile: fully tested on PalmOS5 debug simulator

· Added "Ignore Messages > N" filter (preferences)
· Improved category selector
· Added stricter implementation of IMAP folder mirroring during send / receive
. Many bug fixes over previous version

Why was a demo code included?

Do we have to pay to upgrade, if we purchased Version 2.11?

Since this would be a major upgrade. 2.xx to 3.xx, then going with all commercial software, there would probably be a charge. Hopefully, they will have an upgrade price for their loyal customers. :D

There are a few suggestions for this beta which I feel can be modified to make it more user friendly.

1. When reading mails, delete should open the next message instead of going back to the list mode.

2. When purge command activated, warning should not mention deleting mails in server if "Remove messages from server when deleted" is not checked in Mail Account Preference.

3. It would be useful if user have the option to Delete (Local, Server or Both) when deleting messages.

4. Color filter for messages identification based on Subject/Sender etc

5. Allow for selection of multiple signatures

6. Last but not least, filters for incoming mails.

Another cosmetic change I'd like is a color icon for the Connect/Disconnect button. Currently, it's color only when connected.

Still a good upgrade and looks really promising.

The SMS account is not automatically added as described.
There's no phone driver support available under Sony Clie.
Where can I download this, German version?

I would buy right away iambicMail, if I could send SMS with my SonyEricsson T68i.

All I need is:
- Send mails over my Handy
- Send SMS (later MMS) over my Handy
- Synchronize with Outlook Express and/or Lotus Notes.

Is there a button to return to AN from Mail? There is a button to go to Mail from AN and it would only make sense to have a button to go back. Another request, can we get scalable collums and collum headers? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi,

for SMS capability in iambic Mail you need Palm OS 4.0 or higher with Telephony support or a Treo 180 or 270

All Palm Powered devices running 4.0 or higher from Palm and Handspring (ie Treo 90) seem to have telephony support but for some reason the Sony devices do not include this part of the OS unfortunately so this feature is not available on those devices without Telephony support.

Hi,

The only time I get this warning is when one of the fields are left blank, possibly you did not enter a password in the Servers tab of the Mail Account setup. Please confirm that every field of the Info and Servers tab of the Mail Account screen has been filled out.

I agree, but I would add the ability to ignore the RE when sorting by subject. Now if you sort by subject all of the RE's are together. Also important to me is the ability to sort with the most recent email on the bottom. If this can be put in version 3.0 I'll buy it in a heartbeat

I have a Clie T625C and would like to know where I can get the Telephony support from?

Also my messages seem to appear in reverse order than they do in Outlook Express? ie Most recent at the top? Is there a way to make the 'oldest' messages appear first? It is not really a problem but I have to start at the bottom when I read my messages and work backwards?

Also any news on how much the upgrade will be? I have only registered v 2.0 about 1 week ago and now I will have to pay to get the new version again? Although I may not as at the moment I cannot get the SMS support to work :( .

Other than that all seems to work well.

I re-entered all the data three times and it worked.

Don't like HAVING to leave my password there, I rather wanted to be prompted for it on mail collection.

Anyway the v4 requirement fopr SMS makes the upgrade rather limiting for me.
