Hi,
I know that when I hit the "DONE" button, it will save the spreadsheet, and put me back into the file index view.
But, sometimes I want to do some work in a spredsheet, and then decide NOT to save my work. I want to keep my spreadsheet in the unchanged status from before I started to work on it.
Is there a way to exit a spreadsheet without saving it?
Thanks,
David

I agree with the need for closing without saving and am amazed that this doesn't appear to be implemented yet.
If you've only made a few changes, TinySheet's excellent Undo command might be enough though.

Hi,
The best way IMO is to explicitely "duplicate" the workbook before you start to modify it, just as what you would do to create a backup of some existing data by making a copy of the file. Then it's up to you to delete whichever version you want after exiting.
[ Actually, note that asking for change save would require twice the workbook memory. For a 2 MB workbook, 2 more megabytes of temporary copied data would be required on the device, plus time to copy/move the workbook. ]
However I guess it would help if we provided a workbook-specific option named "use backups".

This is really a shame. I thought I had found a real alternative to DTG that would give me what DTG doesn't and exactly what I need: speedy navigation in the spreadsheet and a direct, simple way to sort. But this business of not having the option to save is a real dealbreaker.

Please excuse me, but I dont know what exactly do you mean by your comment.

Might have misspoken a little. What I mean, is that one is not given an option to either save changes or discard changes. When you click done, it saves. That's it. So if you made some changes, but don't want to save them, you're out of luck. Is there a way to handle that?

Are your changes saved if you only close the app (e.g. tap at the home button)?
I have tried this and the changes are not saved, but I'm not sure for all circumstances.

hadn't thought of that (nor sure how many people would). I tried it, and it seemed to work. Maybe I'll continue demoing it after all. Thanks for the tip.

Also, sweety88, have you seen my other post about the Excel plugin not working? It's at http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25123
No one has replied. Wonder if I could bother you to have a look at it and see if you can answer. Thanks in advance.

I thought that had worked, but after I've tried it again, I see that when you just close the app directly, when you come back to TinySheet, it opens directy to that same sheet again, with the changes made still there, so you have to close it at some point by clicking on DONE. Clicking DONE means close and save.
So I don't think that actually works. Am I missing something? I make a change on the sheet and then tap my T3's home button. Is that what you meant by closing out the app?

After some testing I see that it works for some operations, and for some not.
At the moment there seem to be no way just to close without saving.
I'll ask the developers.
