First of all, the 4.x beta is awesome! Thanks for the hard work.
Ever since installing it though, Outlook periodically pops up with the - something is trying to access the email folders - how long would you like to allow it - dialog box.
Any ideas why that is starting to come up?
Thanks,
- Dan

Not sure.
Are you using a local pst profile or connected to Exchange Server?
Can you see and/or send & receive email?

Using a local PST file.
It's just a warning dialog stating that someone is trying to access email. I get Yes, No to allow, and a time dialog to allow access for 1,3,5, or 10 minutes.
It happens anytime I try and open one of my emails, but after clicking yes, I can open the email just fine.

Sounds like this may be a setting in your Firewall or Virus Protection.
Please check the settings for these and make sure Agendus and Outlook are allowed complete access.

No it's not from that. It's a much known dialog coming from Outlook when Outlook detects an outside program trying to access your email.
The screen shot of the error is attached.
Here's the exact text:
Microsoft Outlook
A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have
stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?
If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should
choose "No".
_ Allow access for (1,2,5, 10 minutes)
Yes No Help

As Dan says this is a well know issue. Introduced back in SP? of Office 2000 and causing havoc since. That said it doesn't affect most users, or me using OL2003. What version of OL are you using Dan? Is this beta the first time you've installed Agendus for Windows, or an upgrade?
There are some reg tweaks that can be used to fix this - try Google - but not really the answer.

I'm using Outlook 2002, with no option for upgrading (corporate supplied).
I've been using Agendus for years, faithfully upgrading as new versions came out.
As I mentioned, this warning did not occur until I installed the latest 4.x beta of Agendus. Prior to the 4.x beta, I had Agendus for Outlook v3.32 installed. Now the warning happens constantly!
Very annoying!

The issue is well described here: http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/security/
They also provide an advanced tool to help get past this condition. When I ran it, it popped up with it's detection, and provided the following stack of calls that occurred prior to the security warning. Again this only started happening when I installed the 4.x beta, but now I get the security warning on every email access (outside of the time warning):

I've been having the same issue since I installed it. I am on OL2003 and use an Exchange Server. We do have a firewall, but no other security to speak of.
Can it be related to the Agendus toolbar that's now attached to every email? Or is Agendus trying to log every email to the contact history every time you open an email and Outlook doesn't like it?

There is a fix for this, as it came up when I used another program with Outlook several years ago. However, the fix disables the security in Outlook that is trying to prevent a virus from using your Outlook email addresses.
I don't recall the patch name, but there is one....somewhere. I think it will have to be fixed at the microsoft program level.

From MS site: A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook Help
Assistance > Outlook 2003 > Sharing Information
Applies to
Microsoft Office Outlook® 2003
When programs like Microsoft ActiveSync® or Palm Desktop attempt to access your contact information so that you can synchronize your personal digital assistant (PDA), you are notified that "A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook." You get this message because the Outlook Address Book is guarded programmatically for security reasons. This is to prevent viruses from taking over your address book without your permission and spreading themselves using e-mail addresses in your Contacts folder.
In general, you cannot prevent this caution from appearing. You should not get this message if your synchronization software is a trusted add-in that can properly identify itself to Outlook as a safe program. Check with your synchronization software vendor.

[I am using OUtlook 2002, so I don't know if this advice applies just to 2003 or 2002, as well.]
What say ye, vendor?

That's the one I used to use! It works perfectly and solves the problem automatically. Installed in 30 seconds, was free, and that makes it the perfect piece of software.
Thanks. I had forgotten the name of it.
