View Full Version : Why picklist icon in contact list?

Anyone know iambic's logic in putting the picklist icon (triangle) in the contact list? It leaves less room for the actual contact name.
In all earlier versions, we tapped the listed phone number to expand the view to the other phone numbers for that contact. Now, to achieve the same thing, we have an "out-of-place" looking icon, on a more crowded looking line with a squeezed contact name.
Why? Do other users agree with me that the previous way was better?

I totally agree. The contact manager is my main reason for using AN. I like the new feature of tap dialling, but it could have been done a lot simpler..
Take away the horrible triangle for a start and just click on the M,F,H letters to get a list of numbers...
The tap dialling is good, but why couldn't it be done like the palm address book? Tap on the phone number and up pops a box to dial, but it also gives you a list of all the other numbers.
If I want to tap dial a colleague in the office, I need to change the display number from mobile to office and then tap to dial...
Agh!

I agree. I can't imagine why Iambic elected to trade screen space for this change--without even asking us. Did someone big complain loudly about the way it was? Let's get it back the way it used to be--it was pretty cool and efficient that way.

I had posted this thread elsewhere as well, and iambic agreed and responded that they are doing away with the picklist icon in list view.
In an upcoming release, a tap of the display phone number will pop up a list of other numbers/email. A tap and hold will pop up the dialing feature available on some handhelds.
Sounds like an excellent solution which will restore the Contact list's appearance.

Iambic is listening to it's customers and making improvements as they deem appropriate.
It's a privledge unique to the palm software community that we get to participate so directly and instantly in their products development.
There is no right for indignation here... but instead gratefulness for their willingness to provide, listen and respond to these groups, which benefit we users and the developers by helping to provide smartly-featured and popular products.

More and more it seems you are right. I think I better get used to the idea that Iambic has turned a corner. I am happy about that and am going to stop sounding so beligerent in my posts. It's a good product that I am happy to have and now I am going to relax with the hope that indeed they are going to let us in a little more on the needs of the program (in other words, it looks like we count a little more now and that's real good). Thanks. :)
