I earlier posted regarding the new picklist icon displayed in the contact list. Having just posted, I haven't received any feedback on my question about it yet.

But, having just noticed someone mention that the picklist icon maybe activates a dialing feature on some handheld models, let me propose an idea to that will work and balance the competing needs of a clean, uncrowded interface and the addition of the new feature.

Place the picklist icon on the far right of the contact list in place of the memo icon. Tapping it will display an note icon (only if notes exist) and a phone icon (only if other numbers exist, if appropriate). The phone icon can be anything that would symbolize phone numbers or dialing, if the phone icon is not preferred.

This unclutters the interface by putting this icon at the end of the line, integrating the two icons that are only on some of the contact list items.

This very approach is used on another program I'm using and works great.

So, in summary, if the picklist icon (triangle) cannot be removed, move it to the end of the line and have it (a picklist) pop up the two icons representing optional further contact information.

Tapping on the phone number in the contact view pops the Dialing confirmation dialog. No additional buttons were needed by implementing it this way.

Reply to this strand as well.

I would like the ability to turn off the dialing.
And then to have the old functionality back !

This was one of my favourite features of the contacts section !
