Does not crash for me but:

The beach ball appears and spins indefinately

Meanwhile i can still choose other views and work on them with the beach ball still on the screen.

Beach ball disappears when opening an edit screen

when I return to contacts screen beach ball reappears and is still spinning away

He he, beach ball...I have never heard the wait symbol described that way. I guess it does look like one doesn't it. I like it. :D

Yeah, that behavior is weird. I have encountered that many times in the years of using all sorts of softwares so it's something that I am not entirely surprised about.
