I just tried to download a trial of EverNotes Plus for Windows. During the download, my virus software caught a trojan in the file.
I'd really like to try the program, but not until it is virus free.
Thank you.

First off, where did you download the trial from?
What anti-virus are you using and what was the name of the Trojan that was found?
There have been many anti-virus programs that produce "false-hits" with many popular programs that do not contain virii on them... I have a feeling this is the case here.

Thank you for your reply. I downloaded the trial directly from the link emailed to me by iambic. Although I don't recall the name of the trojan but the file was in the Temporary Internet File folder. McAfee is the virus program.
I've been an iambic customer since I purchased my first Palm (IIIC when it first came out) and I really hate the thought that a virus was missed so I hope you're right. BUT, how do I know for certain?
Thank you.

Hi mamandm,
we checked all the evernote related files residing on our servers, and none appears to contain viruses or worms.
You might want to clear your browser's cache and try downloading again from the link provided in the trial email to make sure you are getting the file directly from us.

- Adriano

I just scanned the Evernote trial files on my own computer and there were no traces of anything unusual. This was using Avast anti-virus.

and downloaded it anyway. Now, when I try to run the setup file, I get the Microsoft error "Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I've tried downloading it to two different computers and get the same message on both.
I am not new to computers...My first computer was the FIRST version of the IBM PS1. I've been on the internet since the start of Prodigy...
So... I just don't understand why I can't get this downloaded and running. It's frustrating. I do see that the file is relatively new (4/27/07). Any chance there is a problem with that file? If not, here is what I am doing:
Click the link in the email
On the download screen, click the file for the application (not the manual)
Choose my "Downloaded Programs" folder on my computer as the destination
When the download is finished, I click on the file and choose RUN.
Ok.... what am I missing?
Thanks for your help! Also, when I downloaded the file on the second computer, I did NOT get the trojan warning.

Are you able to check the details of that error message and copy and paste it here? The details of the crash are normally found when you select "Send Error Report".

I think you might have some other issues going on with your PC. I had no problems whatsoever installing the PC and the USB version of EverNotes on two different PCs.

I've downloaded other programs and have not had problems. This is the first and only time I've had a problem.
I suppose I'll just have to forgo Evernotes although it looks like a worthwhile program for me.
Thank you again.
