View Full Version : Using Agendus on TMobile Dash

I just purchased a Dash and like it very much. I am a long time Agendus user on my desktop and on my TX. I am currently using the Outlook version. I will probably retire my TX to fun applications and use the Dash for my PIM. So here are my questions:
1. I am trialing the Agendus for Smartphone but am having difficulty navigating without a stylus (the Dash doesn't have one). I only see references in the documentation to tapping. Any thoughts? I'm also not really crazy so far about what I'm seeing in the contacts view compared to the default app on the Dash, but I suppose that I can keep the default PIM and refer to Agendus as needed. I do like the Agendus calendar version better than the Dash calendar version.
2. Also, is there a way to sync what I already have on my desktop in terms of icons and category colors to my Dash? I purchased the icon sets years ago for my TX and my desktop and would like to not re-invent the wheel if possible.
Thanks in advance!
Cynthia

Hi Cynthia and welcome to the WM side of the Forums!
The naviagation on the smartphone (non touch screen ) is not where we want it to be at the present. It is a work in progress. Others, like yourself have given us feedback and the work on navigation is on the list of fixes currently. The WM version is still very young and will gradually be brought to the level of the Palm counterpart. We still have many features on the list as you may know by trying the WM version.
In regard to icon use please see this thread and you will have good information on how to work with the icons: http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28103&highlight=icon
Tell me specifically, when you say your items (like your icons and settings) are on your Desktop, do you mean in Agendus for Palm Desktop? I can help you with migration too if that is what you need but I just need to have the specifics of what your setup. You can do a keyword search on "Migration" or "Import" or "Export" and you should find all related posts as this is asked a lot. :D
I invite you to do a search via the forums on any keyword that you are interested in and you will find many great resources. We look forward to seeing you in the discussions for Smartphone.

Thanks for the super-speedy response! OK, I am currently using Agendus for Outlook, which works nicely in terms of migrating basic info but not the nice fluff of the colors and icons that I have spent a LONG time creating on my desktop. I would like to migrate these to the Dash. I don't see an option for category colors in what I currently have on my Dash, but maybe that's because it's the trial version? Is there more capability with the pro version in this regard than the standard? (trying to decide which to buy)? Also, if I make the Agendus the default PIM, will that screw up voice dialing? I know that there isn't a choice in the Agendus version to send a text message directly from contacts the way there is in the Dash. I will do some research on migrating while I wait for your response.
Thanks again!
Cynthia

Thanks for the speedy response! This may be a duplicate reply but the other one vanished. Probably operator error. ;) Anyway, I am trialing the standard version. I have all kinds of icons and category colors set up on my Agendus for Outlook. I would like to migrate them to my phone. Can I do that in the trial verson? If so, where are they on my computer (or where SHOULD they be?)
Thanks!

Hi Cynthia, in regard to moving icons you must copy those on your desktop to your device. As stated in the link above, the procedure to do this is on the third post. Here it is specifically http://support.iambic.com/forum/showpost.php?p=103650&postcount=3
In regard to theme colors, go to your device and open Agendus. Tap the tool button or use Menu> Preferences >Themes settings and set your colors. If you are using Vivid Agendus, it is not available on the WM version as of yet. It has been requested.
Comparison on Pro and Standard is found on our product page here: http://www.iambic.com/agendus/wmsmartphone/default.asp?cnt=comparison
In terms of setting Agendus to the default, if you want a feature that is not existing in Agendus as of yet then you would want to use your native contact to use that function. However, I am not familiar with how voice dialing is working on your device. I use Voice command on my device just fine whether Agendus is default or not. I have it mapped to a hard key so I don't even open my app to run it. The best advice is to try it set to default and see what it does. Yes, SMS is a popular request and it is on the list for features in the future.

There are no limitations on the Trial. In terms of your first post it must have gotten caught up in the moderation queue. Sorry about that.
Cynthia, I love the Pro Version and I bought it because I wanted to take advantage of the features on my new phone. Being able to get weather and mapping addresses was for me a big selling point. I am not sure what you need but I know I feel that having the ability to use the phones data to keep my life a bit simpler has be a nice thing. Try them and compare and let us know what you think.

OK, I think I figured it out. All my icons are now on my phone (fortunately I had put them in a folder on my desktop ages ago) and I found where to set the colors on the categories. Interestingly enough, some of them (category colors) migrated from my desktop on their own but not all. I can't find any info on migrating this info so I will do it by hand. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I qualified for a 50% discount on the Pro version so I snapped it up. Next product to try eventually is the billing software!
I also think that I discovered by accident how to migrate between different parts of the screen. Just to confirm, does pressing and holding the up or down key get you to the top and bottom sections of the screen?
One more thing: changing the city for the weather doesn't seem to work. Any thoughts? I can click in the field but I can't seem to change anything.
Thanks again for all your help. I'll be looking forward to the updated Smartphone version.

Hi Cynthia,
Great news. I am glad you got things worked out. Thank you very much for your purchase of Agendus Pro!
In terms of pressing and holding...are you referring to your directional pad keys on the smartphone? Also, what view are you referring to? In the Day View, scrolling should jump from scheduled appt. to schedule appt.
Since Smartphones rely on navigation buttons, holding on the key should scroll through the screen via the direction pressed. However, with the navigation being different on Pocket PC, Smartphone may well be doing this. I can't duplicate that behavior on my Treo. If you can duplicate that over on your device, am not sure that is intentional behavior. -but hey, it is sure serendipitous! I can inquire about that for you. If it isn't intentional, we should put it on the list because I think it is a smart feature! :D
In terms of weather, you are navigating to the city/zip code input box and you cannot change the city. Can you not type it or you type in the city and the changes don't stick. Tell me step by step what you are doing and what city you are typing exactly and we can get to the bottom of this.

Hi again!
OK, I figured out the city thing--not sure why I wasn't able to navigate to it before. I have figured out that the left and right areas on the direction pad change between sections on the screen, such as the toolbar and the up and down part of the directional pad navigates between areas on a section of the screen, such as the contacts view, if that makes any sense. I would strongly recommend that anyone using the Dash go into the preferences section and move the toolbar to the top of the screen. Makes navigation a lot easier.
One last question, I think: in the editing section of the Categories, it does not allow deletion of categories. Somehow, some old categories that have been off my desktop are on my Smartphone. Any idea how to get rid of those?
Thanks!
Cynthia

There is no way to delete categories off of a WM device because the OS does not permit it. If you do a keyword search this topic has been discussed:
http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28340&highlight=categories
The long and short of it is that if you are synchronizing, open outlook and edit the category list there. Make sure on your device that there aren't any old appointments associated with those old categories. Go into outlook and look by using category filters to view those fast. Chances are, you may have some old past data that may be associated still with those.

Thanks again! Worked perfectly. I hope we are helping some other Dash users with this thread!
My last task is to figure out how to navigate the Contacts in Agendus as efficiently as the default Dash PIM. I will do a search on this but it is a lot easier at this point to search for a contact with the default PIM. I can just put in the first several letters and it searches and finds on both first and last names. Can't make this work on Agendus.
Otherwise, I LOVE IT! :D

That is great news Cynthia!
The navigation is a priority on the list of fixes. It does need to get better. We agree. Thanks for giving us your support!
