View Full Version : Important missing features

This new version of Agendus looks like a nice improvement. I've tested the beta a little bit, and here are my thoughts. I realize that these are not "bugs," but they are important features that I think are missing (and that would make Agendus much more competative with DateBk5.)

1) The views need to be customizable individually! Rather than "global" preferences, I should be able to select the font size, etc. for each view seperately. I may want "tiny" hires fonts on the week view, to allow more text per frame, but not on the day view, where I would prefer a more easily legible font. Having the font selection take effect across the board is a big drawback. The same is true for "To Do" items, as another example. I shouldn't have to have them displayed on all views or no views. Rather, I'd like them displayed in the day view, where there's more screen space, and not on the week view, where they clutter the screen.

2) On a similar note, the "Today" view is a great new feature, but also needs to be more customizable to be useful. It makes complete sense to integrate a feature like this into Agendus rather than using a third party program like Wassup. However, this view, of all views, needs to be configurable enough to be useful to the user at a single glance. In other words, the ability to eliminate the "mail" option, if it's not used, or order or space the other items differently. Wassup has an excellent feature set--some of it's abilities would be good here.

3) Categories: it is GREAT to see Agendus' new ability to handle categories for datebook items. This was, in my mind, one of the program's big drawbacks in the past. However, this feature is not that useful unless the user can pre-format colors (like To Do items) for datebook categories. I don't think going as far as DateBk5 and allowing the customization of font size, etc. is necessary, but a simple color-selection option panel, like the one that is available for To Do categories, would be a big improvement.

I love the "look and feel" of Agendus, as well as the contact integration; if the above features are added, I think Agendus can be the top datebook replacement available for the PalmOS.

I'll report bugs as well as I discover them...

After further examination, I see that a couple of the features I thought were still missing are in fact available, hidden under a different menu. Sorry for the oversight.

I still believe that font size should be able to be customized for each view individually, not applied to every view.

Also, point number three is key--the ability to color code appointment categories. This isn't just a "feature request"--as a user who has experience with both Agendus and DateBk5, this is, I think, an important move for Agendus to make to attract DateBk customers to their product. Othewise, appt. categories are of limited use in Agendus.

Also, a bug: in the full To Do list view, the font is HUGE, when hire view is enable and "use large fonts" is selected; all other views show a much smaller font.

I'm using build 258 on a T615c.
