We were discussing the History feature over at the YahooGroup and I thought it would be neat to enhance it further. Since purged entries do not show up in the list, it would be neat if the function ALSO took a look at the attached note for the contact where the logging information is stored.

Perhaps the logged entries in the Note-field of the contact could also show up in the History window? (Optionally of course :) That would give a more complete picture and list even old Calls and ToDo's. It would also list old meetings for those who purge the Datebook. It might be tricky if they are both logged and not purged, but there is surely a way to handle that logic. The function seems to scan the entire Datebook and ToDo-database, so taking the time to scan the contacts note should not induce any noticeable overhead.

Granted, you can't link to items that are gone, but if you use a decent description text, it should be enough to jog your memory. A little icon could be used to denote that it is a logged item, not a linked one. The fact that it also logs the date will make it very much easier to go back to the Journal entry for that day. In my case, that purged ToDo or Call will still reside in DayNotez, so I'd have the info handy anyway.

Also, add a button (or menu option) on the History screen to allow for that neat list to be exported to the built-in Palm MemoPad. It could be a very handy way of getting a valuable reporting option, esp. for those who set up their projects as "Contacts" and use AN to log the activities.

As usual, Tormod has made some valuable and thoughtful suggestions. I purge my calendar and todo regaularly, but I also log like a maniac, so this would be a superb way to unify those two data sets.

I suspect parsing the notes could be tough, but it shouldn't be impossible.
