Hi there,
I just bought Health & Diet manager for Smartphone (Motorola Q9) yesterday because I realy need to get in shape after having too much to eat during Eastern. ;)
I'm used using Diet programs on a PPC and a Symbian device. So I have certain expectations with this program. I installed the trial a while ago but didn't check it thoroughly and it had expired. So I bought it.
I now found some things which I think could be improved:
-When inputting your weight, one can only input whole numbers. And because I use kilograms (kg) this means that it is not very precise. I would rely like to input parts of the kilo also (f.e. 86.6 kg).
- When I inputted some food items or made my own custom meals I noticed that for a lot of foods, one can not enter the weights by grams. There will be only the choice of one cup or 250 grams (and you can't make that smaller).
This makes the program very unprecise. :( And people who use this program are most of the time very precise orthewise they wouldn't bother.
These are for now my two greatest culpritts.
Is there a fix for these problems??

Hi Wouter.
I don't use the program and hence don't know of any workaround but I agree with you. I also use kg and grams and know how imprecise would be not to use grams and stay with just entire kilograms.
I'm forwarding your requests.
Thanks.

Ok, thanks. I hope that someone will grant my request then. :p
(It's pretty hard to find out how much cornflakes there are in one cup when you don't know the size of the cup...)

Thanks! ;)
Btw.
I had some wine last night (more or less a bottle... :weird:) and wanted to put it in the program. I was very suprised to find out that 4 glasses of Rose wine only gave me 80 calories. I guess I'm still drunk! :bulb:
But it is not right. I checked on differt lists and rose should be about 60 calories per 100 ml. And I don't know how big the glasses were used for the program but I guess about the size of a thimble! The rose wine give too little calories! The same with white and red wine. This doesn't give much confidence in the other values of the food database....

I understand.
I'm forwarding this info for its corresponding review.
Thanks for your feedback.
P.S.: I tried to be clear and short just in case you already have that time (wine)

I can see your point. Are all wines created equal?? I never drink wine. I should probably...:haha: I went to my better half for this question. My husband said that it would depend on the sugar content of the wine made. Do you agree?

Yep it does depend on the sugar content. Dry white wine is supposed to have the least calories. (sweet) red wine or sweet rose or sweet white wine the most. There should be a resonable difference between those wines.
A bit more off topic:
I noticed that for me FitnessPlus (from smartcell) have the same things which need improvement: The same problem with entering your weight (not being able to enter smaller values than kilograms. And some other quirks which are not present () in Health & Diet Manager.
But the reason why I bring this up is that I used use a good diet program on my Pocket PC and on my Symbian device which had the right calorie values and I was able to input grams in the food database.
For the Pocket PC this was: MyPersonalDiet from VidaOne
And for Symbian this was: MobiSystemsDiets for S60 from Mobisystems.
Both very good product and I would love to see Health & Diet Manager at the same level as those two product. I think it is nearly there but needs some tuning at some points which I mentioned before in earlier posts in this thread.
If there is any need for some testing I'm happy to help out here.
