Have your favorite feature you used to enjoy on Agendus Palm, Windows Mobile, etc.? Or have an idea for a functionality that would help you out with your day to day getting-things-done while on the go life?

This is the good time to let us know! Follow-up here with your requests, ideas, etc. or even better, open up a new thread so it will get easier for us to better isolate and discuss each of them with you.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Just a couple of things I can think of that woiuld be awesome:

1. A timer function...stopwatch would be cool too.
2. Call filtering blacklisting, whitelistig...)
3. Email? (I'm not sure if this is already a part of it, but Pocket day has it)
4. Custom lists -- have the ability to create lists with multiple field types. These could be used as grocery lists, inventory, "wallets", etc.
5. Reverse phone lookups. Pocketday has this and it really helps with call screening!
6. Contacts photo albulm. This would be great so you can link contacts together, and organize spouces, kids, and, siblings.
7. Contact category filtering, with the ability to select multiple categories at once

1. Colored grids for easier identification
2. Sort by categories for Contacts, Tasks, Calender, and Notes.
3. Ability to show subfolders for Tasks and Notes.

I have owned palms and treos almost since they began and was an avid agendus user until my company gave me a blackberry. I can't stand to carry two devices so I was forced to ditch my treo. I MISS AGENDUS. I have pocket day on my blackberry but find that I hardly ever use it. Here are features that I want.
(1) The absolutely most important thing is to be able to see my appointments and todo's on one page. I can do this with pocket day but it is rather basic
(2) The ability to create a todo or calendar entry out of an email with attachments
(3) The ability to color code my calendar entries and todo's for each of my projects.
(4) The ability to link to address book entries, urls and other information in my appointments or todos.

I would be happy to be a beta tester.

thank you for the suggestions you came up with so far. All are being considered and filed into our feature tracking system. Couple items I saw above, which I myself would particularly enjoy are:

- The ability to create a todo or calendar entry out of an email with attachments

- Reverse phone lookups (aka Power Search 411)

this said, everything mentioned above is being considered, if not for v 1.0, as part of an ongoing update.

Keep the ideas and feature requests coming! :)

Adriano:

I own a BB Curve 8320 :D and come from the Pocket PC and, before that, the Palm OS. I am also new to the forum; I apologize if these have been discussed or are Agendus for BB features already.

My 2¢ for your consideration:

I liked and used a feature in former PIMs, which allowed tasks to be seen every calendar day after the start date, for as long as they were unfinished. In the BB you see an unfinished task only on its due date. :( (I would rather be reminded every day, than have to scroll across several weeks or months of data to be reminded what is due when. Sorting unfinished tasks at least by priority and due date will enhance this view.)

I highly prefer to see when a task is assigned (start date), its *intended* completion date (due date), and its *actual* completion date. RIM took an easy way out by having the actual completion date of a task be the (intended) due date, even if the task is completed at another date. Again, :(. (This greatly helps for project and annual reviews, for audits, or when just being asked, as it narrows searching for items recorded in my PIM.)

Thank you.

Hello

Im hoping that a calendar that carries the icons and colours from the desktop is a given

I would like to have a today screen that incorporates the mail, calls, tasks, and calendar in one view.

The more personalization we can do to size, order, colour etc the better. This today page would be your default if wanted and a much better tool to use than the the only similar product - pocket Day

If you can make the app perform on the BB like it does on WM then it will be a star seller.

OMG, I can't believe it! I am considering switching from Palm to a Blackberry so I can get company emails (they only support BB). But I just can't do it because I rely so much on the Agendus month view with the icons. I can see at a glance how my month is shaping up, and NO ONE else has that capability! I just sent a plea to the Tech Support peeps and now I see you're actually working on this--I'm so happy! I want it NOW!!! hahahaha...Nurseferatu

I made the switch from Palm to Blackberry and still haven't gotten over the lack of icons in the month view. This alone would make me buy the product.

One of my other favorite features comes from Datebk 5 for the Palm and that is the floating event. This is basically a "to do" item that appears on today's calendar but floats over to tomorrow at midnight.

Thanks.

I am sure you will transfer all of the great features we all miss... I hope anyway :) Will be great to get back with Agendus!

Two of my important features would be:
1) Custom colored days
2) Proper syncing with Outlook! So many programs I have had I would enter someones birthday and it was not properly mapped with Outlook and the birthday goes in the "notes" section and not in the birthday field where it belongs. Hope that is worked out as well!

Good luck with it and please put me down for BETA whenever that is available!

Thank you!

I look forward to the Blackberry version of your product.
The two main things I would look for are:

#1 Ability to create activities (calls, to-do's, meetings) and link them with a contact. This would then create a history of activities within the contact view.

#2 Ability to Synch with ACT! by Sage. Everyone does not use Outlook-please don't forget about us. Outlook is unusable for me as a salesperson.

Thanks, I can't wait for this as I am in sales and run my life on my BB but the native PIM is horrible.

Asked a coworker about his Blackberry--I wanted to see the desktop. He said that he doesn't have it installed at work, but it's just okay. He uses the Palm software for his contacts because it's better...and he said overall he's disappointed with the BB: Poor sound quality, lots of crashes, and most importantly it doesn't handle third-party software very well. He didn't know about Agendus, but he said everything he's installed on it has given him problems with his phone and/or mail. He's a very savvy user of all kinds of devices, and we've both done usability design as well as worked with lots of software, tech, and etc...we're not novices. This does not bode well and I'm now wavering back toward the Treo.

Features I would like to see at introduction:

- Icon Support.
- Support of Custom Text color per category for tasks/meetings - not just a background color
- Template support that syncs with the desktop items
- OTA sync of custom agendus fields
- Ability to dial, email, SMS a contact attached to a meeting or task from the meeting or task
- Ability to inject an Agendus Meeting or Task from an email/SMS/Phonelog event

Any idea on when a Beta will be available for testing?

thank you for the suggestions and ideas :)

quickly circling back on this to let you know we are following this thread rather closely... couple of things which will be present in 1.0 and I see mentioned above are:

- Ability to dial, email, SMS a contact attached to a meeting or task from the meeting or task

#1 Ability to create activities (calls, to-do's, meetings) and link them with a contact. This would then create a history of activities within the contact view.

as far as when the beta will start -- likely around mid June -- we'll keep you posted.

Well...I'm leaning toward getting a Palm instead of BB. Why? (1) I do like Verizon, and it looks like they're definitely going to have the Centro soon. (2) My other favorite third-party SW, ePocrates, still isn't ready for Blackberry. (3) Usability design: Tasks take WAY too many clicks with BB. (4) Agendus would be a BIG improvement to the look/feel, but the rest of the interface is pretty ugly compared to Palm OS. I know...All the "really important" people have BBs, there's the email push factor, and the navigating ball is VERY sexy...but I'm not sure that's enough for me! --Mothra

Mothra - give the Verizon BB8830 a try before you go with the Centro. I moved from a VZW Treo 700p to an AT&T BB8800 about 14 months ago and have not looked back. The native BB PIM is weak, but so is the native Palm OS PIM. When Agendus gets to the BB it will be a great improvement. There are others available today to make it at least manageable (PocketDay). The Phone and email of the BB are far superior to the Palm OS.

I agree that CUSTOMIZABLE ICONS are key. Particularly in the monthly and weekly views. That way, for instance, you can look at your week or month at a glance and see what types of appts, meetings etc you have. I know Agendus is a quality program. I had used Datebk 6 from pimlico which had "Floating appts" which were like "to dos" or "tasks" that would move from one day to the next until checked off as completed. Also, that program allowed for icons on all views and thru "icon manager," the user was provided with dozens of samples and had the ability to easily create additional, custom ones.

I am so excited that Agendus is coming to Blackberry! I have had agendus through two PDAs and was very upset that it wasn't available for BB.

I can't wait to be able to view the history for my contacts, but what I would also like to be able to do is view a contact and see all upcoming events, events, to-dos, calls, etc. I would also like to see all the contacts that are linked.

For example, I have as a contact the nonprofit where I sit on the board. I would love to be able to call up that contact see all upcoming events and tasks, as well as all contacts that are related to it. I think agendus can do this already, but I've been on a forced absence and am forgetting some of its great features!

Is mid-July still the target date?

Options for annual, semi-annual, quarterly, bi-monthly, by-weekly and weekly recurring events, calls, task, memos, etc. with reminder alarms etc.
This is what I miss the most since switching to the Blackberry. Lots and lots of Icons (PLEASE) my entire life was entered into Agendus, the kids sporting events, shool functions, dance class, recurring bills, doctors appts etc.
HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!
Thanks, Jeana

Hi All,

again, thanks for the suggestions and feedback -- we keep an eye on this thread on a daily basis. Quickies in regards to what I see above...

> floating appointments / tasks / etc.: this is what in Agendus are defined "rolling tasks", "rolling meetings", etc. And yes, they'll come across to the BB version.

> icons support, editor, etc.: if not in the 1.0 version, this is something planned for ongoing 1.x updates. Icon (and other Agendus sort of gadgets) synchronization with Agendus for Windows (Outlook Edition) is in the roadmap as well.

> regurring events, alarms on any type of items: also this one is being investigated, and if some type of info won't have alarm support in 1.0, it will get improved as part of ongoing updates.

Is mid-July still the target date?

so far, yes. We plan to start a public beta prior to mid July.

I presume that you're going to be developing a new desktop version of Agendus to go with the eagerly-awaited Blackberry version. It would be great if you could start augmenting the printing capabilities of the desktop version when it comes to calendars. We don't need full-fledged fency-schmency calendar-printing features, but it would be great to have more flexibility over formatting and presentation of printed versions. I need to make physical copies of my calendar every month and the current output from my Palm-based Agendus is none too pretty.

What version of Blackberry software will be needed to support Agendus?

I just purchased a Curve 8330 from Verizon and it is running v4.3.

Documents to Go was just released for the Blackberry and requires V4.5.

I spoke to Verizon Support, and they have no current plans to go to v4.5.

I still have about 10 days to return the Blackberry and get another Treo if Agendus will not run on v4.3

If Iambic wants to hit the market with a software offering that is going to have the largest market they would want to go after OS 4.2 and above. This would hit all the Curves, Pearls, 8800's and the new Bold, Thunder ....

I just wish they would get a beta going - I miss Agendus form the Palm Platform.

Also, if you are on Verizon and there is a version of 4.5 that gets released by another carrier it will be linked on BlackBerryForums.com and you can download it and install it on your device and it will work.

Hi !

As a long time user of Agendus on my Palm TX and Treo 680, I'm really happy to see that you're going to make a blackberry version; I'm currently using a BB Curve and the agenda is a real pain.

Number 1 in my wishlist: a nice weekly view, just the same as I had on my Treo, so that I could see my week at a glance !

Hi All,

just wanted to let you know the first public beta build is now available, head over to the Agendus for BlackBerry beta forum (http://support.iambic.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=150) for info, download, etc.

In the next few days we'll go over this thread and make sure all the feature ideas reported here are captured in our feature tracking system, should any of them not be yet available in version 1.0.

Moving forward please report additional feature ideas (always welcome btw) by opening up separate threads so we'll make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Thanks again and looking forward to your feedback :)

Fantastic! I used Handspring and Palm for years and Agendus on my Treo 600 before I bought a Curve.

One suggestion: a quicker way to switch views. The menu is okay, but a hot key for the "switch view" screen would help.

Also, a button for one click access to the "switch view" screen would be even better, maybe at the top of every main page. I'd rather have a button for each view at the top of the page and skip the "switch view" screen altogether.

Feature Request: Complete log of Task, Calls, SMS, Appts, Emails attached to contact.

One of the greatest features of Agendus was ability to log all activities associate with contact.

****Ability to store logs on SD Card (for obvious reasons).

I've used Agendus on the Palm since before it was Agendus. My company went with Blackberry and I MISS MY ICONS on Monthly View. It allowed me to create my own filter of what I wanted to see in a monthly view instead of just little black dots that meant something was going on that day--not much help.

I'm getting the beta and eagerly waiting for icons on a monthly view. Thanks for being open to input.

I too am excited about Agendus for BB. I've used many devices over the past few years, and none of the built-in PIMs were robust enough. It was love at first try with Agendus.

I second Jim Berg's sentiment -- one of the features that makes Agendus stand out in the crowd is the great visual it provides with icon view. Not to mention, over the years I have created a ton of personal icons. It would be a shame not to get to use them when they are iambic-based.

Custom colors would be nice as well, so you could easily note an item's category by its' color.

Thanks, development team, for caring about your customer's preferences.:o

Like many other posts, I have used Agendus for Palm and I was anxious to see the Blackberry version. I am running an 8830 and I found that the beta (not activated) version of the Agendus for Blackberry (113).

Overall speed seemed to be very slow from loading the app to switching between screens. I found the response time to be a lot longer than the core Blackberry apps, Google apps, or other Blackberry apps. Cross functionality of Agendus was the biggest win in former versions of the application. I found this version of Agendus for Blackberry to not be so functional as I could not get easily from my calendar to my Address Book. I remember in past versions for Palm, the ease in terms of creating Notes, creating new tasks, new events, and address entries to be a lot easier.

Screen size. I found that most meetings and events ran off the screen and I struggled to read the font and font size. I truly think that any application loaded on top of the Blackberry operating system should take the settings of the Blackberry for font and font size and view ability. While I am 30 years old with 20/20 vision, I had trouble with the 4 pt font in the calendar view in an indoor setting, I would hate to be outside with it.

Overall, I am glad to see Agendus for Blackberry beta version and I look forward to see the new versions.

I have used Agendus since before version 5 on the Palm and one view I REALLY loved is the 5 day Calendar in Colume view:

Thank you for the opportunity to post. Was a previous Palm user (owns BB Pearl now) and really missed Agendus. Great product! Just joined the forum and wanted to add to the wish list. Didn't see the ones mentioned below but apologize if these were posted previously.

More email functionality -- didn't see the ability to delete emails or ability to set how to move to next email after opening other than closing the message (would be nice to add go to previous, go to next email)

Is there a way to activate the hyperlink in an email? Any way to display html rather than text only?

Is there a way to "auto" update the quote of the day, day in history and weather forecast rather than doing that manually?

One thing that I remembered I wished I had with the Palm version was the ability to change the icons on my contacts. I know that icons have been mentioned many times but I really wish we have the option to change the default icons, especially for the contacts but would be nice to do that for all views.

Also, really liked the free time finder and search features in the Palm version.

That's all I can think of for now -- thank you!!

I too am a convert from Treo Palm where I used Agendus. The BB version isn't as easy to navigate...it was nice to use the icons on the bottom of the screen rather than have to use the menus.

Also, I would like to have the option to set the "All" view for contacts enable me to sort by more than just first name. Other choices would be last name or company. The same holds true for the alphabet ranges...right now the only choice is by last name.

The Palm version is more pleasing visually especially on the calendar views.

I posted this as a problem elsewhere: in the Today View, the display in the calendar section erroneously displays an appointment scheduled for a week from today's date.

I'm hoping that you will add the option for text messaging a contact in addition to emailing and calling. It would be great, for instance, if I could text message a contact from the today view.

I'd also like to have a "switch applications" command from within Agendus.

Thanks for all of your hard work on what promises to be a terrific application.

My ultimate wish for Agendus for BlackBerry is to have the functionality and feel of Agendus for Palm, an application that I started using on Palm PDAs from the days when Agendus was ActionNames (I think that was the name; but the point: I've been using it for a long, long time).

Until it gets there, the feature I'd like to see developed soon is the split screen view, appointments on top; tasks below. That is what I had as my opening screen and where I left it all day long when my Palm TX was my principal PDA.

I am still struggling with Agendus failing to show all of my appointments, but that is a topic for another forum & another post.

Agendus was a very important tool for me when I was a Palm user and I am sure it will be again one day when the BlackBerry version begins to catch up to the Palm version. For now, at least, it is not sufficiently far along in its development to meet my needs. I'll be watching . . . .

Like many others, I am a former palm agendus user (all caps is for emphasis only - not yelling) - LOVED it. Here is my wish list:

- to be able to scroll from week to week in week view (the same way the Blackberry calendar permits)
- to have the day as well as the date displayed when using "Go to Date - Choose Date"
- when entering new item in the calendar - to be able to click on "When" to edit without having to use the menu popup; CATEGORIES IN CALENDAR PLEASE

Thanks
