- Special Notes

Owners of the discontinued version 3 of TripTracker will be notified via e-mail within the next few days with information on how to obtain their free upgrade to version 4.

The version for Windows Mobile Smartphone (and WM6 Std) is currently being worked on, and will be released in the coming weeks.

The application is currently available for download and purchase at www.iambic.com and we are in the process of listing it through our distribution partners' mobile and desktop software portals.

Pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!

YAY!!!!!!!!!

One question - Since I first purchased and registered TripTracker from TwoPeaks I've since moved and changed e-mail addresses. So what do I need to do to qualify for the update as a v3 owner?

Not sure yet how this will work. I would expect that we will get more information on this.

I am thrilled to see the new version available and have downloaded the trial as I'm a v3 user. I have not received a trial code though, and am not able to do much with the software. I've requested the demo code using 3 different email addresses and none receive the code. Can you help?

If it helps, I know the e-mail address that I registered TripTracker with, have the receipt from Handango and your website recognizes that there is an account for that e-mail address in your system. Unfortunately it wants to send the username and password to that e-mail address - which is no longer valid...

From clicking on the Upgrade link on the product page your system does have the old e-mail address listed, but it wants to send me a link to the download and it seems that if I put my current e-mail address in the system is just sending me a demo and not the upgrade...

So it would seem that if there was some way that you guys could update the e-mail address associated to me I would be able to get the upgrade...

Can you be specific what happened? Do you mean that you typed in your device ID and never got a trial code via email? I would assume that is what you are saying.

Since this is all very new, let's see what Michael and Andriano direct us to do. ;)

BTW, I just went to the product page and got the code immediately in GMail. What email do you use?

Well I did finally get a code sent to a generic address we have at my company. I had tried my personal e-mail address and my hotmail address and never received a code at either. It finally came through overnight. Maybe the system was just overwhlemed by all us happy TT USers who were busy downloading and importing our trips! Thanks for the prompt response and the free upgrade for those of us that used the prior versoin. That's a great gesture to the user community. I'm a little worried where I didn't get a code to my personal address that I'm registered under that I may not be on the list. Is there someone I can check with?

I also used the download linke, entered my email (which shows up on the UPGRADE screen for TripTracker, so I know it is a valid address) but no emails have shown up with the TRIAL CODE.

Not sure what is up. I tested and it went through right away to my gmail. What email are you using? There may be a glitch in the system or server. I will certainly ask.

It worked yesterday - I did the Download Trial on both the Windows and the Windows Mobile applications and received two emails titled:

"Full-featured trial information for TripTracker for Windows Mobile Pocket PC from iambic.com"

and

"Full-featured trial information for TripTracker for Windows from iambic.com"

which gave both the download addresses and the Trial codes

I'm not sure what else to add to what already mentioned here in the sticky post:

http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33716

as far as trials -- they are being generated and sent via email just fine. Please check your junk email settings.

- Adriano

adriano wrote Please check your junk email settings.

I'll echo that! On my Yahoo and Google accounts, I have the spam being downloaded anyway (with the former, it's prefaced with 'Bulk').

However, I used my F9 (PlusNet) email for the trial downloads, and waited and waited for the emails to turn up. When they didn't, I logged in to the PlusNet Webmail, and discovered that I didn't have a Spam folder by default. When I enabled it, I found a load of spam and non-spam emails in it, including the missing Iambic emails. Moved them back to the Inbox, and deleted the rest. I'm now going to be checking that folder regularly!

I use AOL (no "real" spam settings except to check the address book to decide between INBOX and SPAM folder) and your emails are not being received in either location. It is possible they have flagged (black-listed) your domain as a spammer and are blocking them before they ever reach a users account. And before you say that they shouldn't be doing that, I "know" for a fact that they do as I used to work for them as a systems engineer on their email systems.

Now, I am getting emails from "forums@iambic.com" so they aren't blocking your entire domain (*@iambic.com) but they might have blocked whatever address is used for the sales promotions, trial keys, etc. Since I don't know what that "sending" address would be, I cannot call AOL, as a customer, and report an issue as they will require that address to open a trouble ticket.

The only way to approach this is to have your email postmaster call AOL's postmaster group (888-212-5537). Be aware, you cannot rely on getting a block/reject message because at some levels of AOL's spam blocking they don't generate them to keep processing overhead down, which is another "violation" of the email delivery protocols. Basically some of AOL's spam efforts, for their customers, accomplish things with "extreme prejudice" to the rest of the email community.

I was having trouble getting the trial codes too. I tried twice using my home email account and did not receive any codes. I checked the spam folder and they are not there. This morning I tried using my work email account and immediately received the codes. I tried again with my home email and again no codes.

I noticed a difference between the two methods. If I use my home email, after clicking the Submit button I am taken directly to the download page. If I use my work email, I go to a page that says that an email containing the download link and demo code has been sent, with instructions on where to enter the code.

Thanks... I'll try using a "different" email address than the one I have registered with IAMBIC, maybe it's getting confused because I'm already registered with the site as a customer under that address.

That's definitely the issue!!! If you use the email address that you have previously registered TripTracker with, the web site takes a different logic path and presents an "upgrade" download screen rather than going to a "new user" path with a trial key via an email!!!

Firstly, let me say how pleased I am that you have finally released this upgrade. However, it is a shame that you chose not to first release it as a beta version, because I have already found the following bugs in version 4:

1. The backup function does not work, coming up with an error message "Cannot copy file: The file name you have specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name" It does not matter what file name I use, I always get this message.

2. It is not possible to set a default currency other than USdollars. Although the desktop version has the function to do this and appears to accept a new default currency, it in fact never changes from US dollars. The function to do this is missing from the PPC version. As I am British and live in the UK, USdollars are no use to me!

3. The Quick Start guide installed with the desktop version is for another product - Vehicle Manager!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to find many more bugs until I receive the codes by email because I am on day 3 of a 3 day trial.

On a positive note, I am pleased to say that the synchronization is working correctly for me.

This seems strange. Some folks are having no problem while other are. Not sure what to make of that. I have already passed your comments along and I would assume if Adriano finds anything he will correct it.

Hi Paul, sorry about that, we have it on the list.

I will pass this along. I don't use TT so I will ask.

Uh oh. That is not good! :weird: Will pass it along.

Thanks again Paul!

Hi Paul,
On nums 1 & 2 thanks. These are on our list to correct soon.

On number 3, from where are you accessing the Quick Start guide? Does it appear in your installation folder as a .pdf?

It is one of the options under TripTracker in the Windows All Programs menu
