Has anybody been able to successfully sync with the new version of Trip Tracker yet? I've not had any luck. I'm running the desktop client on Win XP and imported by old database successfully. I'm trying to sync to my WM6 Pro device via Bluetooth sync. It keeps hanging on "Looking for changes". When I disconnect, it then asks me if I want to merge or overwrite changes before Active Sync shuts down.

Hi,
Were you certain to review the suggested steps (http://support.iambic.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=297) to transition from 3.x to 4.0?

Yes. Do I need to delete v3.x off my desktop and WM device before syncing?

OK. I wiped Trip Tracker off my desktop and PPC. I then followed the instructions in the KB article step by step. I'm still having ActiveSync hang on "looking for changes". It appears to be doing this on Pocket Vehicle Manager (another iambic product) and OneNote Mobile. So, I wiped everything off again and this time disabled syncing of PVM and OneNote Mobile. This time I got TT to sync but there were over 1000 unresolved items that would not resolve.

For now, I'm going to give up until I get back to my office and have sync cable available to eliminate the potential issue with Bluetooth.

For the record, I'm running WinXP on my desktop and WM 6.0 Professional on my PPC. The PPC is connected via a USB sync cable. ActiveSync is v4.5.

I've started over from scratch, erasing TT 4.x from my desktop and PPC. I reinstalled TT 3.x on my desktop and backed up my .dat file per the directions.

I installed TT 4.x on my desktop and successfully converted my .dat file into the new version. TT 3.x was never installed on my PPC due to inability to sync.

I then attached my PPC and, after ActiveSync completed its sync, I installed TT 4.x on my PPC. I disconnected my PPC and reconnected it. ActiveSync syncd’d fine but TT was not enabled for syncing yet. I went into ActiveSync->Tools->Options and enabled TT for syncing. ActiveSync told me TT needs to setup a database file on my mobile device as I had not yet run TT on the PPC.

So, I disconnect the PPC and run TT to initialize a blank database. I then exit TT on the PCC and desktop and reconnect the PPC. ActiveSync connects and starts “Looking for changes”. It stayed in this state for 20 minutes and never synced. I disconnected and reconnected and I got a "synchronization error" and it won't sync.

I soft-reset my PPC and reconnected. ActiveSync says it's connected on my desktop but my PPC does not think it's connected.

HELP?!?!?!

Wow. Ok, with the handheld NOT connected...

- delete both .dat files on the PC and PPC
- delete the device relationship in AS
- Relaunch each one to generate a blank db.
- Sync once (will take longer the first time)
- disconnect
- import
- connect to sync again

If you still have problems, email me (mailto:qa@iambic.com) your 3.x dat and reply here that you've done so.

How long is long?

I did all the steps and it's been trying to sync for about 15 minutes. It is still "Looking for changes" on the followings apps:

- Microsoft Office OneNote
- TripTracker
- Vehicle Manager

My files folder is only about 2Mb.

OK. I've tried the steps above (a few times) with no luck, always getting stuck on step 4. I'm currently 30+ minutes into my sync and nothing is happening. ActiveSync says it's Synchronizing and "Looking for changes" on Microsoft Office OneNate, TripTracker and Vehicle Manager. Other than that, there's no indication it is doing anything. My TripTracker db is blank.

At this point, I'd be willing to give up my old TT data and reload my Frequent Fly accounts by hand if I could get a sync working.

In an effort to isolate the problem, I've disabled the Vehicle Manager and OneNote Mobile ActiveSync conduits. I've managed to get farther in that ActiveSync actually completes a sync. However, it says I have 1252 unresolved items on TripTracker!

Did this and, after the first sync (upon establishing new partnership), I have 1 unresolved item in the Files conduit and 1241 unresolved items in the TT conduit. Clicking "Resolved items..." gives the following error message:

"Synchronization cannot be completed because a file cannot be synchronized with your mobile device. Close all programs on your mobile device and this computer, and synchronize again."

TT is not running on the desktop or PPC. TripTracker.dat is the only file in PPC\My Documents.

No other desktop conduits are enabled. Microsoft Exchange Server sync worked as expected.

It's almost as if the File sync conduit is colliding with the TT conduit.

Wow, not once did we encounter such behavior after hundreds of sync operations. Please try this...

- disconnect the handheld
- soft reset your handheld
- close Active Sync on the desktop (by using 'x' button), which will minimize to the tray
- open Task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)
- click on the 'Processes' tab and then click on the 'Image Name' column header to sort
- find 'wcescomm.exe' and then click 'End Process'
- hover your mouse over the System Tray AS icon to make sure it terminated (icon should disappear)
- restart Active Sync from the Start menu
- once again delete the TripTracer.dat files on both sides and relaunch the app once to regenerate
- reconnect the handheld

I followed the steps and still have 1 unresolved item in Files and 1248 unresolved items in TripTracker. I suspect the unresolved item in Files is Trip Tracker.dat as it was not in the folder on my desktop.

I also tried it with deleting the partnership before reconnecting the handheld in the last step and got different results. Now, there are no unresolved items in TT but I have 2 unresolved items in Files.

After much trial and error, I've isolated the problem down to Vehicle Manager. If both Vehicle Manager and TripTracker conduits are enabled, ActiveSync will hang on "looking for changes". This is suprising as both are iambic titles. Also, I was never able to sync after converting my old TT file.

Since I use Vehicle Manager far more and my TT trial license has expired, I've disabled TT from syncing while I wait for a resolution. If there's anything I can do to help resolve this (data files, etc.), please let me know.

I have had similar problems but I can't say that Vehicle Manager is the cause. I have tried TT on two computers with WinXP Pro. One has VM, the other does not. In both cases, after converting my TT3 data to the new version, ActiveSync has stalled as described in this thread. I have tried uninstalling from both PCs and removing the .dat file. I also uninstalled from my PPC (an ipaq hx2790b with WM5) and removed all traces. I reinstalled the desktop version and created a new data file with one entry. I reinstalled the PPC version. When I tried to sync, AS hung up as before. Several times I have left AS running for 30-40 minutes but it never progresses beyond "looking for changes" and never completes.

I have exactly the same problem with some 1499 unresolved items. I do not use VM so I can rule that out as a problem. Using XP on my laptop and have an iPAQ 214 running WM6 Classic.
Can someone please help as at the moment TT is absolutely useless

Hi. I have the same problem. I have tried everything suggested in this thread but nothing has helped yet. I am running Windows XP, WM6 and ActiveSync 4.5. Everytime I retry it comes up with one file not able to sync and 1255unresolved triptracker items.

Hi everyone,
Just a head's up here that we have confirmed some synchronization conflicts between VehicleManager and TripTracker where if both ActiveSync clients are enabled neither sync properly. We have this atop our list of high-priority items to address.

For the time being a temporary solution is to disable one of them, which should allow the other to sync. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Thank you all who continued to report these issues.

Hello everyone,
An update here. The TripTracker installers for both Windows and PPC have been updated with a new build, which should address these sync issues.

Please redownload and reinstall each.

Thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem as Metsfan, but I did not import any 3.0 data, nor do I have any other Iambic applications on my PPC. I am running WinXP Pro and Windows Mobile 6.0, as well as ActiveSync 4.5.

I also get the unresolved items of one file and 1249 TripTracker items. If I repeatedly click on "resolve items" the trip tracker items diminish by one or two each time, but the thought of "resolving" 1200+ times seems unrealistic.

I followed all the steps, including deleting the two .dat files and the PPC profile, with no change in the outcome.

I don't think the new build helped the situation, since I downloaded both files yesterday and get the result described in my previous post.

See this thread:
http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33775&page=2

When you sync for the first time, did you select "Replace items on my device with items on this PC"? If so, select the option to combine the items. I did that and it fixed my sync problem for the most part.

Ok after the weekend off I have come back to this.

Uninstalled TT off both PC and PPC. Then took the extra step of manually going through the registry and removing all entries relating to TripTracker. The thing that suprised me was that there were still quite a few entries remaining in the registry, both from the iambic install, and the two peaks install (that I uninstalled after installing the upgrade). So iambic might want to look at the thoroughness of their uninstaller.

Anyway, I dowloaded and reinstalled the latest versions of both PC and PPC. Started with a blank database. Connected the PPC and it said that there were 1239 unresolved items (on a completely new and empty database).

Open up on PC again and created a new trip and put in a test flight. Now this is where it got weird. After completing the details for the first flight segment, an error box popped up saying 'Operation Aborted' with an 'Ok' click box. Click ok, but nothing showed up as having been entered. Closed program, reopened and there the flight sector was.

Connected PPC, and then it dropped to only 35 unresolved items. Then started again and AS came up as saying 'Syncronised'!! But then AS showed the TripTracker conduit constantly as 'Looking for changes'.

Check TT on PPC and sure enough, the data has come over from the PC! So there is progress here. But it doesnt seem at all stable.

We will be addressing this in the next update. I do not have a firm date for when this will be available. Thanks for your continued patience.

Thank you all for your feedback on the synchronization issues with our 4.0 release. I'm pleased to inform you that we have addressed these in 4.1, which is now available (http://www.iampowered.com/archives/2008/06/26/triptracker_version_41_has_bee.php) for you to download as a free upgrade.

Should some issues remain, please let us know in a new thread by provide as much detail as possible.

The issue described by GEOSTA above is still an open issue in version 4.1.

"....Open up on PC again and created a new trip and put in a test flight. Now this is where it got weird. After completing the details for the first flight segment, an error box popped up saying 'Operation Aborted' with an 'Ok' click box. Click ok, but nothing showed up as having been entered. Closed program, reopened and there the flight sector was...."

After starting TT, the first calendar appointment I put in enters correctly. The second one (and subsequent entries) gives an "Operation Aborted" and is not entered in the list. If I refresh the trip (open another trip and then re-open first trip or restart TT) then the entry that I put in is displayed.

This is on Windows VISTA and appears to happen if the PPC(WM5) is in the cradle and recognized by VISTA Explorer.
