There are two bugs in the Location dialog box which comes up if you press the New City button:

1. There is a link to find the latitude and longitude on line, but this takes you to Google Maps, which does not provide the latitude and longitude! I suggest a better link would be http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm

2. The latitude and longitude entry boxes have N and W, but you cannot select either S or E, so you can currently only add cities for 25% of the world!

Hi Paul,
I agree that Google is not providing the Latitude/Longitude info and we'll investigate changing this. As far as the NW and ES information, isn't this how Lat/Long is measured? On the site you provided only the N and W coordinates are provided.

PS: Although in this case it was obvious, in future reports would you mind specifying which version (PPC or PC or both) you're referring to? This help us more quickly identify a problem that may or may not exist in both editions. Thanks.

Hi Michael,

OK, in future I will specify if I'm referring to the desktop or PPC version. In this case it was the desktop version.

It is only in the NW quadrant that lats and longs will have N and W references. If you go to the site I linked to and enter Syndey, you will see that the references are S and E.

In the previous version of TripTracker the drop down box with N also had the choice of S and the drop down box with W also had the choice of E - these are missing from the new version.

Regards,

Paul

Ok, thanks. I was certainly not a geography major, but I DO see what you mean. We'll have a look.

The option is still there. If you go to create a new city and click the down arrow next to the Lat/Long directions (N/W) it will drop down with a little box. The two little squashed buttons on the right of the drop down are actually up/down arrows and if you scroll down you will find S and E.

The best website I know to lookup airport details of all kinds (including lat/long) is: http://www.flightstats.com/go/Airport/airportDetails.do

Hope this helps

So they are, but these buttons certainly need to be made more obvious!
