View Full Version : 1.0 build 129 - Problems before suggestions

I would love to be able to provide my suggestions for future features, but I have to start by getting a build that is functional to use.

Here are my challenges, many of which I have already mentioned in previous beta posts. Now that the beta is closed I want to make sure they were summarized because none of them have been addressed yet.

Today View: Only a single past due task appears even though there are many others (Today View preference is set to show 7 items and to show Appointments, Tasks and Messages only and set to show completed as well as undated tasks. Under Recent Messages only my personal e-mails appears, i.e. BES e-mails do not appear and is not a choice under e-mail settings.

Week View: If I select week view from "Go to view" it takes me to the current week, but once in the current week, if I select "Go to date" and select "Current Week" it takes me to last week. Similarly, if I select "Go to date" and enter a future date I am taken to the week prior to that date (I am using Eastern Time zone and all native applications show the correct date for all selections).

Keeping with date issues, in Month View, untimed events such as Holiday reminders show up on the wrong days, e.g. in the native BB application I have Christmas Day as a yearly recurring event start Wed Dec 25, 2002 and recurring yearly. In AGBB it shows up in the Today, Week and Month Views on December 26 and when opened the When = 12/24/2002 – 12/25/2002, with yearly recurrence. To add further oddity, in the Month View the correct date is underlined, i.e. Dec 25 is bold with an underline, but the event only shows up on the bottom of the view when you scroll over to the following day.

When opening appointments from any view the application freezes for 30 seconds up to 4 minutes. This is clearly a major issue that makes AGBB for the most part unusable.

I have 51 calendar entries (many are repeating), 31 tasks and 854 contacts. Calendar entries are primarily created using my business e-mail system which is Lotus Notes.

Another issue is that when in the Month view if you select a day and then from that day want to go back to the month you were looking at by using “Go to view” – Month, it takes you to the current month instead of the month you were already in.

My list is getting to long so I will stop here. I hope you can help (I have previously sent a log file), otherwise AGBB is unusable.

Sincerely,

Rick

If you manually create a similar recurring event on the device, rather than via Lotus Notes. do you experience the same wrong date display?

Another issue is that when in the Month view if you select a day and then from that day want to go back to the month you were looking at by using “Go to view” – Month, it takes you to the current month instead of the month you were already in. This is something we will correct.

Thanks.

I started with Build 120 during the beta phase. All through the upgrades I could not get the "Recent Messages" function to work in the Today View and cannot still. I do not see where it can be configured. Also, the Weather Forecast now does not function since the upgrade to 1.0. It keeps trying to retrieve until I get "error retrieving data".

Will there be "Events" included as well? All I have are Appointments (new, new weekly, new annual), task and contact. Also, will BB Agendus have a function to link a task and/or appointment to contact. Will there be a capability to link contacts? I'm looking for some more functionality and performance.

Michael,

You asked whether the annual recurring events like holidays have the date problem if created in AGBB and the answer is no they don't, but in AGBB I couldn’t create an untimed event. I think it is the untimed events that are the issue.

Also, in creating an appointment "relative" is spelt "Releative" again.

Also, Tasks in Today View still have problems displaying. A new issue is that a task completed September 29 continues to show up in the Task area. It shows it completed and in light grey, but it should only show on the date it was completed and not still on October 1.

Hi Iambic Support,

After about 10 years of Palm (with Pimlico's Datebk), I stepped over to Blackberry (Bold) because you made a Agendus-version for Blackberry.

For now, Agendus is not good enough for me yet.

Here is a list:

1. Font- size is too small for the Bold. It would be nice if font-size would be adjustable in prefs.

2. In week grid, when moving the trackball to right, I would like to go to the next week, and also back when moving the trackball to the left.

3. Is it possible to get the weeknumber in week grid?

4. The not-going-to-this-week issue, reported in an other thread.

5. In day-view from the native calender, the curser can be moved up and down the hours by moving the trackball up and down. I can type an appointment immidiately at the position of the curser.
In Agendus, when I want to put down an appointment I have to press the menu-button, go to new, confirm, choose appointment, confirm and fill out a complete form and confirm. This takes much much much too long.
Please make day view accessible like the native calendar.

6. Same as 2., but also in one-day-view. The native-calendar does that too, and it has a nice smtwtfs-bar in the top-right corner.

7. I use week-grid as my start-view. When I use the menu to go to one-day-view, the escape-button will get me back to week-grid.
But I can also highlite a day and with pressing the trackball, it gets me to the one-day-view from that day. When I press escape, it won't get me back to weekview. It would be very usefull if it would.

Ok, thats it for now.

Cheers, Niels

Hi Niels,
Everything you mention here is on our list of future improvements. The only item I'm not sure about is "3. Is it possible to get the weeknumber in week grid?" While this is a good idea, the Week Grid View is already super-cramped. Added Week numbers would only make this worse. If you have ideas, they're welcome.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply.
I'm very happy that everything I mentioned is on your list.

Thanks, Niels

Michael,

I was in Europe when I upgraded to build 134 and I thought "Great, the annual recurring event issue is solved". However, when I returned to the Eastern time zone where I live the problem was still there, so the issue is a timing one where AGBB seems to be challenged by untimed events (also Relative Date is still spelled incorrectly).

Hi,

As a long-time user of Agendus, going back to my Palm Vx days, then on my Treo, I look forward to the program's becoming an asset on my Blackberry.

I'm using 1.01 build 134. Several times I've tried to access the Preferences option. When I click on it in the menu, the screen freezes and only a reset (taking out the battery for a few seconds) makes my device operational again.

My device is a BB Curve 8320, purchased at a T-Mobile store about 3 weeks ago.

OS: v4.2.2.180 (Platform 2.5.0.36)

BIS? (Not sure, but I think it's BIS. How do I check?)

Syncing with Outlook 2000 and BB Desktop Mgr 4.6

No other PIM installed on device, but I have installed Ascendo's "Wallet Suite" of apps, which shouldn't affect Agendus.

Thanks for your help!
