View Full Version : Conversion Procedure

When the iphone version of agendus is ready, it would be exceedingly helpful to those of us who have years of calendaring and hundreds of contacts in the PalmOS Agendus to have a procedure for converting our existing data for the new medium. That includes icons, if possible.
And in case we get tired of waiting and go to a Pocket PC or Symbian machine, the same help would be needed.
I've searched the Iambic site and have found no guidance on the subject. Have I missed something?
Thanks,
Jay

The very easiest way to make the conversion from Palm to absolutely anything else is to simply sync to Outlook. This would be necessary anyway if you plan on moving to Windows mobile, and is definitely a convenience for going to any other platform.
There are a number of threads on this topic, a wiki entry or two, and a handy link in my signature.

I also want a conversion procedure, but the solution will ideally not depend on third party stuff. I don't use outlook -- installing windows and outlook in order to move my data over is a non-starter. I'd much prefer a sync that uses, say, email or webdav for transport.
Thanks,
Reece

Who wouldn't. Unfortunately, Outlook is not viewed as third party - it is primary, especially if you plan on using Windows Mobile or Blackberry. Other solutions range from hosted exchange servers (sync that uses email) to Google.

Are you saying that Iambic's official direction is support/facilitate migration from Palm to something else only for Windows users? What is your proposal for Mac and Linux users?

Right now we have no proposal for Max or Linux users.

So...what your saying is that even when Agendus IS released, those of us that are on a Mac (the number is increasing as people use the iPhone and realize that the Mac is a great thing) are out of luck?
Are you working on any solutions for MobileMe sync along with Agendus? That might be a way for Mac support.
Hmmm...I understand that Apple is frustrating with their approval process and SDK...I just wonder if Iambic is a little behind. Ultimately, I miss my Agendus!

I thought Macs could sync with an Exchange server?

Before searching for the most effective way to migrate from PalmOS Agendus to "may be to be released some day in the future" iP Agendus, it would be good to know first to which calendar iP Agendus will be sync to ? Outlook ? Google calendar ? iCal ? MobileMe ? All of these ?

Hi--
I realize this is a *really* complicated process for Iambic, and I will second the request for some kind of porting application outside of Outlook. I can imagine Outlook wouldn't import everything correctly. For me it's for my calendar items primarily.
I just spent several hours trying to figure out a better solution.... and it has been a rat race of headaches trying to find something that will work so I am really looking forward to the launch.
P.S. Thanks for giving me a target date for Agendus for iPhone. I was ready to jump ship without that!

For Windows users, how about just giving Companionlink your specs, and let them handle the sync? That way, we'd be able to use 3rd party contact managers such as Act!, Goldmine, etc.
