The german translations in ActionNames 5.0 are not acceptable...
("Neuer Email","Neuer Kontact",...)
And there are problems with Menues, when long german
translations are responsible for bad situations!!!
Please fix this!

Let me please second what the other poster just wrote - the translation in 4.XX seemed partially strange - but in 5.0 they are so bad that they make your teeth hurt.
Lesson #1: don#t use Babelfish to translate commercial software

Hi,
I will ask someone in our European localization team to look into this. No ETA on fix.
They dont use babblefish. No.

To give them an hand - here are a few mistakes which a cursory examination has provided:
- when entering a new meeting the contact picklist is spelled "contact" - the german word is "Kontakt"
- In Preferences - Meeting preferences run off the screen or run into checkboxes
- In Preferences - in Todos the pickbox runs into the form title
- In Preferences - in todos and calls the days picklist covers the text
- In Preferences - daily view is called "Tagenansicht" - the korrekt word is Tagesansicht
- In Preferences - weekly view runs into form title
- In Preferences - all views text runs off the screen + I have no idea what "aktivieren mehrkanaleinträge" is supposed to mean
- In Preferences - buttons: text starts in nirvana on the left side of the screen
- In colors: here Kontakt is spelled Kontact
This is just what I found in five minutes - I mean really, is there anybody working quality control? I mean lots of this stuff you can catch just by looking at the forms - not being able to get to a picklist because text covers it should be a pretty obvious visual cue that something is not quite right.
Bye,

Full acknowledge!
I must admit, that I was pretty shocked, when I saw those mistakes. Another obvious point is:
-Apply-Button:
It says "Zutreffen" in the german version. I have no idea what thats supposed to mean. Every other software translates it to "Anwenden" or "Uebernehmen".
I would truely appreciate a fix before I buy the upgrade.
Regards, Thomas.
<EDIT>
Not to forget the "Alarms" dialog box. It was never right in 4.xx, and got worse in 5.0.
-For Todos: Default is "Keine Alarm", should be "Kein Alarm"
-For Meetings: "alarm" is not in capitals like it should be, the before/after pickbox overwrites the text behind it, "die Termin" should be "der Termin"...
:(
I love this program, so PLEASE get it fixed!
</EDIT>

Oh, already a thread opened for this thing;)
No wonder because all the postings tell the truth. With every release the translation gets bader. With release 8 of AN no german speaking people will be able to work with it;).
@kockroc
"aktivieren Mehrkanaleinträge" bedeutet, dass, falls notwendig, in der z.B. Tagesansicht mehrere Zeilen für einen Eintrag verwendet werden.
I found it's purpouse only by reverse engineering;).
I already upgraded. I wouldn't have done it and will not in the future if the translation does not get better.
In preferences, "to dos and calls" view there are two identical option fields called ""Erledigungszeitpunkt aufzeichnen"!
Hm, I think I should download the english version and install it on Palm Emulator and then change the resources with RsrcEdit. Or will we get a better translation?

Another glitch:
In contact-view I tap an entry and the big view of this entry is opened. There you have three buttons "OK", "Bearb." and "Vergangenheit".
When you tap and hold the entry in the contact-view a popup is opened and there the last Command is "Kontakt Verlauf..."
Both "Vergangenheit" and "Kontakt Verlauf.." call the same function and so should be translated with the same word and they are pretty bad translations.
"Historie" for both of them should/could be better.

I'd just like to close out this subject with this post. I'd like to thank Iambic (Jerome) for their quick handling of our posted bug report. The build that Jerome sent me for testing purposes was a big step forward. Keep up the good work.
