View Full Version : Suggestion - scroll speed too fast

Hello,
In setting up the profile on the Storm, I find that my scroll speed through the profile is so fast that I often pass the item I'm trying to reach. This isn't a problem in other apps, so I don't think it's a device setting that's causing me problems. Any chance you could slow down the scroll rate or make that an option the user can configure? Just a thought.

Also, perhaps setting the user's height could also be a drop-down box with selectable items instead of having to use the keypad. Switching between typing and selecting dropdowns isn't terribly hard, but it may be slightly more friendly to use dropdowns as much as possible.
Thanks!

Hi GeneDocIambic,
We have a Storm here and I'm not able to reproduce an excessively fast scrolling in the profile dialog. I can scroll it as slowly as I want...one line at a time for example. In most cases the scroll speed in an application is defined by the system anyway. We have not accellerated this in any way.

Regarding the drop downs in the height...not a bad idea.

Not to say you've accelerated it, but just to say that the scroll rate in your app is much faster than other scroll rates on the Storm. I just tried it again in another aspect of the program, specifically entering a new food, and found it disappointingly fast. Yes, I can adapt and try to make very slow gestures, but the important issue is do I need to adapt to the program or does the program need to be user friendly. I've programmed WinCE/PocketPC/Palm devices for 10+ years and know the interesting challenges faced by customer support and people with their "issues", but I mention the scroll speed in case you notice it's something you can put a multiplier in to decrement the speed. It'd just make my life easier and I'd appreciate it. Perhaps the compatibility used to bring an app from non-touchscreen devices to a touchscreen device isn't completely 1:1 in terms of scroll speed. For instance, bring up a long menu from the Blackberry menu in Opera and note how much effort it takes to move the menu. It's a natural feel to scroll through the menu, IMHO. Now, bring that same motion to H&DM and you blow through the items on the new profile or new food screens.
