Hi, new poster to the forums but _long_ time user of Agendus for Palm. Am trying Agendus for the iPhone, and I like it. I understand you guys are limited by Apple's rules, but what you have so far, for what it is, is a nice product.
While the program cannot sync directly, can you make an "export" function for the tasks? I would have it take each task and make it a comma-separated line, then dump that set of lines into an email (just using the default mail account that is on my iPhone). I would then pick the email recipient (me) and mail it to myself. Then I could scrape that out of my email and dump it into whatever else on my Mac.
I am hoping this could work because you would not have to write a file somewhere - just have the task list in memory long enough to hand it over to the mail application.
Second, more trivial request - could we please have more colors to choose from for the tasks? http://support.iambic.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
Thanks for your work on iPhone/Agendus so far.

Ooo...I like that idea. I wonder if the developers could do some kind of automatic export which could wind up being a replacement to syncing? And yes, definitely more colors!

JDbr22,
first off, thank you for the encouraging words. They definitely give a good feeling :)
Task export -> great suggestion. Adding it to the "to get done asap" list.
Category colors -> the current ones every time I look at them annoy the hell out of me since they kill my eyes, but when time comes got to get it out at a certain point so had to compromise on that. Nice smooth pastel colors coming up in 1.01

You're welcome. I did try Pocket Informant, but it fails an important test that Agendus passes - readability. The Agendus tasks cover the width of the screen and have a background color, with a plain font. In PI, the tasks are in a tiny font and the font is colored, but not the background, so the tasks/appointments are not immediately readable, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Yes they do tasks now!
I also was an Agendus user way back when (on a Handspring ).
Once that died I never really used another PDA until the iPhone/iPod touch came out (am using the iPod touch).
While not entirely thrilled with the current Agendus version for the iPhone, I am realistic about the issues.
However I am also trying out various solutions (but not PI), but no others are an integrated package (which I prefer) like Agendus.
But the others have task synch to various services, including google calendar (which I use as well).

That's true, I forgot. Heh, in PI the tasks to me are clumsy so I don't use them, just the calendar; in the new Agendus there isn't a calendar so I am using the tasks as though they were a calendar.

Instead of just csv, how about a google sync
that is being considered as well. I wish it was a matter of a few minutes to throw in Google Sync for tasks, etc. Unfortunately that's not exactly the case -- but we'll get there :)

Adriano, while I appreciate the difficulty of setting up a sync function I must, sadly, have to admit that I cannot use an app from which a sync is missing, as I use both the desktop and the handheld daily. I prefer the appearance of Agendus to PI, but must also state that both apps have the same goal which, for the moment, PI, for all its deficiencies meets better. Yes, syncing thru Google and Toodledo (which is down at this very moment) is far from ideal, but even the PI developers admit that it is a stopgap until something better is found. I would love to see you guys find some way of doing the sync, whatever the compromise.

Who/what syncs to Google tasks? I've been watching closely and was unaware that they had opened up syncing for tasks.

To be fair, tasks are fairly new to google calendars, and no it does not look like anything I am using syncs with google tasks directly.
One of the task managers I am checking out, and liking, is Todo 2.01 from appigo.
This I am syncing with Toodledo (one of several service choices), and from there it syncs to Google calendars. ( I only have to initiate a sync on the ipod touch - no intermediate steps required by the user after setup). I am using the published ics version of google calendar from Toodeldo and it is limited to a one way direction. Currently the todos show up as appointments on the google calendar.
Maybe by the time google makes an API or other path to their tasks available, Apple will have opened up the API.
If not I would be willing to help beta test any google interaction.

I hope so. I am not happy with Toodledo. It winds up making Google look ridiculously busy. Why do I need a todo note on every day when there is no task to be done? <sigh>

till a few weeks ago tasks in Google were some sort of child living inside gmail. Lately it appears they made it as a standalone service like the calendar. Currently investigating api availability.

PLEASE don't give up on getting Apple to open up their API's and setting in Calendar support as in the Palm OS version - I miss that capability SOOOO much...

Hello All!
I only sync data between the Agendus for Windows (Palm version) and my Palm T|X, so being able to sync things isn't as important for me.
However, what does concern me is a lack of ability to backup data in any other way than via a sync to iTunes. I have have constant problems with my iTunes backups not working. So, I don't sync my iPhone a lot through iTunes. I had to do a restore on my iPhone 3G last Friday and it was the first time that the data was actually restored to my iPhone (and I've had to do about 15 restores).
I think there needs to be a way to backup the Agendus data to an outside source on the internet, so that it could be a more frequent thing. I don't know if there is an easy way to do this, but it would make me more willing to make a jump from my Palm to using Agendus on the iPhone (once its grown a little).
Best to all...

totally agree. Local backups / ota syncing capabilities are among the top features to get done asap.
