When adding a new contact, the native Addressbook application auto-completes entries in the Title-, Company-, City-, State-, and Country fields. AN does not appear to feature that. I find that very useful, however. Does not AN also use the datebook's AddressCitiesDB etc. files? Does not look like.
Currently I rather use the native app for adding contacts.

Good point. It is much easier to enter new contacts in the original address book app.

I actually find it quite disappointing that this feature has not yet been added. I remember suggesting it when Palm added the feature as well.

Over on the Yahoo Groups AN discussion, this has been mentioed repeatedly, and I think it's close to a must, especially since the code seems to exist in ROM already and AN should eb able to bootstrap off of that.

I agree with everyone about the Address Autofill. It's a real must.

As well as what's been mentioned above, one other nice-to-have would be to include some of the auto-complete functions that SuperNames provides. They have some area code presets that can auto-fill, as well as another nice one that auto-fills area codes based on what's already been entered (for example, if I enter the work area code as (xxx), then subsequent area codes follow that same convention. Yes, sometimes you might not want the same area code, but it's more useful than not.
They also have a dupe contact without name that's really nice.

Yes, any shortcuts would be great. Like Word2000's “Tools > AutoCorrect…” feature would be nice too. E.g.: Type “mm” and it turns it into “Meeting” or anything you specify.

IMHO, that's overkill. Keep it simple and elegant. If you want 'MM' to be 'meeting', go to the Shortcuts pane of the Prefs app.

Jaydisc, Sorry I do not understand. Are you saying that would be a good place to add an auto complete feature, for I do not have a Shortcut pane under my AN preferences. But yes that would be a good place to add it.

We should be clear in terminology. Auto-text is covered by the Palm OS and there is no need to add it to any application. It works fine with AN. Auto-complete is a feature which has been added to the standard contacts application for OS 4.0 and does not exist in AN. As AN should cover basically any fonctionality of the standard application Iambic has to implement this feature in one of the future releases.

Sorry for nit-picking but wasn't the feature added for OS 3.5? I don't recall that it was a new feature for OS 4.0.

Probably you are right. For the moment I stay with OS 3.3. My be I will get 4.0 when it will be available in Europe. I never understood why downloadable software is available in the US but not in Europe...
