I have used Datebk3&4 for years, but finally made the switch to Action Names, and I'm hooked. Great program, great support. There are a few features I'd like to see in future versions, though;
-the ability to select a default starting view.
-the ability to open the contact list with the phone button on the palm.
-a better system to select contact names... unless I'm missing something, if I can't remember the correct spelling, I can't find it. Maybe a pop-up list, or something of that nature.
-the ability to shade weekends or other days in the month view (cosmetic, but I like the effect)
-the ability to select what items are displayed on the todo list. I don't use priorities, and so there is no need for me to display them.
-the ability to select what portion of a contact name is displayed in a todo, meeting, etc. It would be nice to show only a last name if desired to save screen space.

Like a said above, this is a fantastic program, and I am much more satisfied with it than Datebk4. Just a few minor suggestions.

Ok, I did just figure out how to map the contact list to my phone button. I guess I better learn to be more careful before I post.

Well, that's two... thanks for the email pointing out that my brilliant idea of a popup list for contacts is already there. For some reason, I thought the diamond brought up a recently used name list only. And in response to your sarcastic question, no I didn't read the entire manual, and yes, it would probably be a good idea for me to read it BEFORE I posted, and, no, looking like an idiot in front of the whole world is nothing new for me. Thanks

Actually, the first request that was "answered", WASN'T answered! If I may use some liberal interpretion of your request, you want the phone button to bring up the contacts view in AN, and the date button to pull up the calander view of choice, no?

Yes, you can map AN to a button, but can you map it to a particular view?

Hi!

I've set up both my DateBook-button and my Address button to answer to ActionNames. By default, when I press either of the buttons, the view I left AN in will come back up (regardless of what button I press). If I press the Address button and the Datebook comes up, I just press it again and I will be switched to the Contacts-view. If I keep pressing the Address-button, I will cycle trough my contact categories.

Now, for the DateBook-part, each additional press of the button will cycle trough the various views day/week/month/quarter.

I find this operation to be what I am comfortable with. However, if you want the Contacts to come up directly upon pressing the Address-button (and DateBook for Datebook-button) you can download and install two small apps called AN proxy. These will load the correct part of ActionNames, but you will loose the ability to cycle trough views with additional button presses.

The files AN_Adresses.prc and AN_DateBk.prc can be found at the ActionNames group at YahooGroups.com and probably both on this site and at PalmGear.

Hope this helps!

How about these additions...

As a converted DateBk4 user, I would love to see a couple of additional options in AN:

1. An option to have all new items start as Private.

2. An option to have all new ToDos start at a particular Priority number.

3. A way to check all 4 Split Agenda View checkbox preferences. It would be nice to be able to show time bars, compress meetings while still showing only scheduled appointments!

Thanks.
:)

Thank you for posting. Hopefully some of these features may show up in a future release of Action Names. Be sure to check our web site regularly for updates.
