View Full Version : 4.03 upgrade question

I'm in limbo between ordering my 3.21 -> 4.03 upgrade and getting the second email that says where to download it. So I'm spending my time planning and worrying. Given the nature of AllTime one could safely assume that I use it a lot, and its operation and data integrity are extremely important to me (after all, how long did it take between getting the email announcement and my ordering the upgrade?). So a few questions:

1. Does the 4.03 program physically replace the 3.21 program? What about the report program? If not, do they have the same creator code that I have to worry about deleting the old one and having the new one disappear as well?

2. Does upgrading the data files eliminate the old files? If not, can I safely delete them once I trust v4.03 (creator code issue again)?

3. I will be doing a double backup (Hotsync and to SD) before installing. In a worst case situation, would you agree that I could restore the old programs and the three data files to get back to v3.21? Or would something else have to be adjusted?

Thanks.

Silly me. I forgot I wasn't on palminfocenter, where posts are immediate and replies almost as fast. Since it could be weeks before an official answer, here's what I've learned by pressing on:

1. v4.03 installs alongside v3.21. It has the name AllTime4 instead of AllTime, and uses sompletely different database names. It also has a different creator code (Tim4 vs Time), so deleting the old version at some future point shouldn't hurt the new version.

2. After upgrading my files, I spent an evening going back and forth between versions. The old files are still there intact and independent of the new ones.

3. As said above the two releases are independent. Either could be restored or uninstalled without effecting the other.
