DataMgr.c, Line:7386,DmWrite:DmWriteCheck failed - had to do a hard reset.
I had viewed this weeks time, last weeks time, this weeks time. Selected the last record to view its detail (it was listed as unfiled). I changed its category to business, selected Ok and it happened.

Tungsten T, OS 5, AT 4.03 build 185
I tried this and did not have the error until I opened the entry and changed back to "unfiled" from "business".
Also, my error message is:
DataMgr.c,Line:7394,
DmWrite:DmWriteCheck
failed
note line 7394 versus 7386

Also: I only had to to a regular reset. The reset button on the screen did not work, but poking the reset button on the back of the unit did. I did not have to wipe out all data, and I *hope* that's what bhunch meant too.

Splicer you are correct. I had to do a reset from the back of my Clie. Fortunately no data was lost in the process.

I have exactly the same problem. Don't have to do a hard reset, but everytime I try to change anything to an entry it let's me do so and freezes on me when I try to save the change. Very annoying. Could this be a conversion error?
Tried to create a ticket for this error, but somehow it never got posted...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, it has been reproduced and will be corrected in a update coming soon.

What are we supposed to do in the meantime? Is there a work around or a set of steps to use to avoid the problem until fixed? Do we simply not use the timer?
Please help. The last post is dated October 2001 (!?) and I've just purchased the upgrade to 4.03 (5.19.2003). Is this right to believe that the problem persists 1.5 years later?
:haha:

I performed the recommeded update to v4.04 and the fatal crash still exists and requires a hard reset.
DataMgr.c, LIne:7386, DmWrite:DmWriteCheck failed.
It appears in the Time entry list view. If you switch between different times like this week, last week, this month, open an entry and change from unfiled to business, press OK, switch to this week, switch to last week, open an item that is unfiled, categorize it as business, Press Ok, switch to this week, change the category from business to unfiled, boom! never got to press OK button. These are the exact steps that I just went thru to reproduce the error.

I have been able to recreate the bug as well.
DataMgr.c,Line:7394,DmWrite:DmWriterCheck failed.
Steps were very similar to bhunch's:
1. Create entry and start timer
2. Go back to Time entry list
3. Change views: this week -> last week -> this month
4. Change an entry from unfiled to business
5. Return to time entry view
6. Go back and change entry to unfiled
7. Crash
8. Hard reset
Using AT v4.04, Tungsten T, OS5 w/ latest updates
