I reported this back during the beta program, and since then there have been two new release builds made public. Sure, it's a cosmetic bug, but it frequently prevents me from being able to read my totals, which still don't update properly.

Sorry if I sound impatient, but TWO MONTHS and you still refuse to even acknowledge this problem!

It was mentioned again here:

http://support.iambic.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5482

And no one has responded to either thread. Is this in the fix queue? Or are you pretending it doesn't exist?

Hello????

Gosh, there you go, responding quickly and politely and all, making me feel bad for being all harsh. But i guess it's true what they say about the sqeaky wheel and all. =^)

Thank you! This has been my pet peeve for a while now and I'll be very happy to see it disappear.

Hello,

it's addressed in the just released version 4.05 :) Unfortunately this issue took some time to get addressed.

Hey, thanks for getting on that so quickly, but I'm a little confused.

You got rid of the problem by eliminating the sort options and total display? Seems a bit like tossing the baby with the bathwater. The whole reason the bug was annoying was because it obscured the total. Plus I liked having sort options there in front of me.

Oh well.

Well, it's great that the speed issue is finally addressed, but I too am confused. There is no total on the main time screen, no way to sort entries ascending or descending (which is very important!), no scroll bar, and while I haven't mentioned this previously, the icons haven't been updated as have those in Agendus 6.1. I can't imagine solving that would be difficult.

To improve the speed the totals are shown if you have 80 entries of that type or less. If you have more that that the total and ascending/descending sort is not available as this adversely affects performance when used with a large number of records.

Hopefully high density icons can be added in a future version, that was not something we were working on for this update.

It is a bad, silly and useless compromise to eliminate the totals and sort options when there are more than 80 entries. I for one couldn't afford the program nor a PDA if I only worked 80 times. What are you thinking?

I think you should revisit the possiblity of fixing the incompatibilities between AllTime 3.x and Palm OS5. Except for the timers, the program worked with no performance hits or ill conceived compromises. I'd gladly pay the upgrade cost if you could just fix this older version.

So let me get this straight--totals and sort options disappear if you have a total of 80 or more undeleted time entries?

I have to admit, that seems draconian. I can rack up that many entries in a month, no problem. I guess this gives me more incentive to clean out the time entries, but I liked being able to look at last months figures, or January's. Really you've just provided me with incentive not to rely on AllTime for as much.

I guess you can't please all the people all the time--I never experienced any performance issues, so I take it at your word that it was a big problem. And it's not a huge deal--this is an annoyance, and I should be grateful that Iambic has only annoyed me this time instead of making me hopping mad, like Iambic has so many times before.

So I'll go and delete my valuable data and see if I get totals back. *sigh*

Postscript to my last post--I can't delete those entries, because I have active accounts going back a ways, and the "Purge" function deletes everything, not just selected records.

Aaaargh.

PostPostScript:

I tried to generate a report for all those records, and my Palm froze, requiring a reset. So instead of creating a monster report, I tried just doing the unreported ones (there was only one). Same result. So I tried only the new ones.

So you've destroyed report generation. That's cute. Too bad. This used to be a useful program.

I'm going back to 4.04. This is insane. Call me when you get your issues worked out.

Hello,

I understand your concerns. We came up with this compromise to make the application fast and usable on any device.

Unfortunately each compromise is always a tradeoff between something.

In the very next days we are going to look for additional options. One of which might be a preference that would let the user have more control on the performance, this might include the option to manually set the limit (currently 80) to any value.

Regards,
