View Full Version : AgMail - 4.0.478 - Attachment Missing

I get an "Attachment Missing" dialog box [This attachment cannot be opened either because it was deleted or it was not downloaded (when no palm application is known to handle it).]. This might be related to "AgMail - 4.0.478 - Unable to Delete Attachment", but I am able to open some JPG files while other JPG files give the dialog box. All of these files are listed in the sync log as "unable to delete". I am also unable to view and MS Word or PowerPoint docs although I have Docs To Go 6 loaded.

Hello Kurt,
are you referring to attachments synced to Agendus Mail via hotsync or received wirelessely?
If via hotsync, then you might want to download the latest build (480) which addresses conduit related issues.
Please let us know if this addresses your problems.

I only use hotsync for mail retrieval. I'll give it a try first thing Monday morning and let you know my results. Thanks.

I just loaded 480, and the results are the same although the HotSync log is a little different. I'll also post these results under the other thread that deals with the HotSync log.
Here is a snippet from the top of my HotSync log.

Hi,
Please go to your HotSync user directory (typically it's C:\Palm\<hotsync username>) and delete Agendus Mail directory containing some wrong stuff coming from build #478 contained attachments issue. After this the problem should be gone, let me know if not.

I've deleted the following folders and reinstalled 480 and I still get the same HotSync log errors.
C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\FK\Agendus Mail
C:\iambic SyncManager
C:\Documents and Settings\<pc-user-name>\My Documents\iambic Mail Attachments
Please note, all sizes report as zero (0).

Hi,
Could you please do following.
(1) Completelly reinstall AgendusMail on your handheld
(2) Delete AgendusMail directory as mentioned earlier.
(3) If above does not help, please send me AgendusMail.log file located in your Palm root directory (typically C:\Palm)

I installed build 481 and deleted the directories again (see below) and I'm still receiving the synchronization errors. My AgendusMail.log file is located in "C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld". I renamed the existing file, so that the log file would be regenerated (and smaller at 69K). I will forward this file to you, but if you want the original larger file (571K), let me know and I can send that one as well.

Hi Kurt,
please accept my apologies for this lack of response in the Agendus Mail beta forum. We are reworking a little the memory management system of Agendus Mail, and this is taking some time. The new system will allow for much stronger stability. A new build of Agendus Mail is due in a few days.

T3, Agendus 8, AgendusMail Bld 484.
I'm having the same issues with the attachments problem. I have now deactivated the attachment processing in the conduit. I still get the same response. I've deleted the Agendus Mail directory per above posts, and reinstalled the new build after deleting the older version. No luck.
What now?

I guess there was a "last minute roadblock".
Any updates would - I'm sure - be appreciated.
I can't continue using this beta, and hope that there are some fixes coming out soon.

I am still having the attachment deleted/ (or filter settings) error with the most recent build of agendus mail. My settings are set to download attachments
I have deleted the mail directory and reinstalled on the handheld as instructed.
Is this still a common problem? Any suggestions for me?

I am using build 503 now and I decided to try the wireles download of attachments. This didn't work back with the 400 series builds either. I tested it several times with different formats, Excel and Word, and it always worked so it looked like we are getting close, it is just the conduit. One thing I did find, when you go to launch the attachment it installs it into RAM etc. but when I delete the email the attachment stays in the iMAttach folder on the card. Shouldn't the attachment be deleted from the card when the email is deleted?

Do you just move message to "Deleted" folder or then also make "purge deleted" to delete that message permanently? If first then then its right behaviour that attachment is not deleted but if second and you you still see that message attachments on the card, then it looks like bug. Please let me know.

Well one of the other members was kind enough to email me the Build 105 .dll file which I installed. I then sent some test emails with attachments and hot synced. I sent 4 emails with files, two of them were okay and I could open the attachments, two of them the attachment had the trash can next to it and couldn't open it. So we are about 50% succesful, but there were no error messages with the hot sync. I then deleted and purged them on the handheld and the files I had open/installed were deleted from the card, so that seems to be working. I then hot synced with the files deleted on the Palm and they deleted on the desktop fine without the old error message, couldn't delete on the vfs blah blah blah. So it looks like we are getting close but the fact that we still don't have 100% attachment sync success is the issue. Please let me know if you need any other information.

Hi,
(1) Please turn off "Limit maximum Attachment size to N KBytes" in AgendusMail conduit advanced settings (right click hotsync icon | Custom | Agendus Mail | Chagne | Advanced options).
(2). If above has not solved the problem, please send me AgendusMail.log file located in your hotsync directory.
Thanks, Sergiy

Sergiy,
That was the problem, some of the test attachments were bigger than the default 50kb size. Since most people will use this with a memory card perhaps the default should be bigger or the limit turned off, that would avoid the problem with people also not realizing what the problem was, like me. Otherwise, there needs to be something in the hot sync log that states the attachment was not transferred due to it's size, something to help the average person understand what the problem is, it will make your life from a support position much easier in the long run.

Thanks. That helped.
After several problems where syncing Agendus Mail froze the HotSync app on the PC and the Clie, I uninstalled and reinstalled on both. Attachments are now syncing for the most part. It looks like there are issues with attachments whos names contain spaces, periods, or underscores.

Hi,
Please go to AgendusMail conduit "Advanced Settings" and check whether "Save only attachments from unread messages" and "Limit maximum attachments size" are turned off, most likely your problem is there, let me know if not.
Thanks, Sergiy
kurt@west

I had "Save only attachments from unread messages" unchecked, but not "Limit maximum attachments size". I unchecked "Limit maximum attachments size" and it got rid of the "Synchronization of attached file named ${FILENAME} was skipped because it did not match mail attachment filtering options." message.
I think this message is misleading and maybe it should say "Attachment ${FILENAME} was not synchronized. It is too large." or something similar.
I am still getting several of the "Synchronization of attached file was skipped because unable to figure out it name" messages, but I cannot determine the cause of this message.
I also noticed some minor spelling corrections:
- Deleting message body recrods >>> records
- Message is skipped becacouse it is older than days limit >>> because
- ...unable to figure out it name >>> its

Hi Kurt,
Now, when you turned filtering options off, you should not see any messages in the HotSync log. Concerning messages in AgendusMail.log, this file is for developers only and we do not expect end customers to look and analyze it on their own (just to send it to us if we ask). Those messages you brought to our attention do not mean actual error, they are just for debugging/informational purpose and should not worry you.
Anyway I've noticied two things in your report which requerie our advanced attention.
> "After several problems where syncing Agendus Mail froze the HotSync app on the PC and the Clie, I uninstalled and reinstalled on both."
If the same problem will happend for you again, please report it in separate thread, attach AgendusMail.log file and if possible don't hurry to reinstall AgendusMail on handheld and PC side while I'll not reply and will not ask you to do some actions necessary for figuring out the problem while it is in reproducable state.

As I understand there are was only "OK Agendus Mail with 1 message(s)" but no actual text of the message. Right? If so, then it looks like some minor bug. Thanks for the reply sergiy.
Since turning filtering off, I no longer get the HotSync log popup message. I turned filtering back on, and while this did cause the messages to reapppear in the AgendusMail log, I still no longer get the HotSync log popup message.
If I get lockups again, I'll be sure to post a new thread. I can see if there is still log information from Tuesday when this was occurring if you are interested.
You are correct. There was only "OK Agendus Mail with 1 message(s)" but no actual text of a message. As stated above, I have not been able to reproduce this since turning filtering off and then back on.

Sergiy,
things were working fine but now it is back. I am using build 509 and conduit build 105. I have three emails with attachments and the attachments are not being transferred through the hot sync. I have made sure that neither "save oly attachments from unread email" and "limit maximum attachment" are unchecked. There was no error message in the Hot Sync log, the files just have trash can next to them when I try to open the launcher. Any ideas?

Hi bjchantry,
Although problem is not reproducable for you right now, anyway please send me AgendusMail.log file located at your Palm Desktop root directory (typically C:\Palm). It will help me to understand what exactly was caused the problem so then I could implement some fix or improvement preventing it for future.
Thanks,
