--------------- CHAT TRANSCRIPT STARTS ---------------

vidal Greetings and thank you for attending tonight's Agendus Developer Chat!
tyson its great to see you all here
Lee Welcome
adriano Hello Ed, welcome :)
Ed_Dombek Hello everyone!
vidal Ed you got the floor. We got most of the Agendus team here. Ask away.

Ed_Dombek My first question is how long will iambic wait for Palm to fix the Graffiti 2 problem?
tyson good question
vidal That's a good question. We are not sure. Ty can talk to the technical aspects. Its unfortuante that Palm has not released a 5.3 update.
tyson Palm did a bang-up job ruining the key event system with grafitti too. the multi-stroke recognizer sends backspace chars through to change chars. quite the challenge to do a char-by-char action. they fixed this bug in OS 5.3 but that doesnt help current T3 users

Ed_Dombek Second one: there have been multiple threads regarding birthday/anniversary support for Agendus. Will we see additional capabilities based on the T3 version of Contacts?
james hi Ed, are you asking when will you get birthday field on other non T3/TE devices?
Ed_Dombek James: No - I'd like a "count down" feature in Agendus.
james Ed: thanks for the for the feedback, seeing that this is coming up in advance of the day would be useful
tyson The T3 Contacts database has a "birthday" field, the Cobalt devices have both "birthday" and "anniversary". we are working on adding both these fields to older devices

Ed_Dombek Last will you ever go back to unmoderated forums? Is this still in response to the DateBk website issue?
vidal Ed, at this point we dont plan to return to unmoderated. We are working on being more responsive on these forums, including holding regular chats
Ed_Dombek Vidal: fair enough. I understand. It is unusual but it is your site.

Ed_Dombek And - Agendus is the REASON I use a Palm. Thank you!!!!!!
adriano Ed, thanks ::biggrin

canary Will the time picker in Agendus be redesigned in a future version?. The custom one in Agendus is awful. I see nothing wrong with the one the calendar app uses because it allows input with graffiti.
Ed_Dombek canary: On PalmOS 4 or less try SelectTime hack.
james Canary: Yes this is something we are redesigning, we are still working on refining the new design. Note: You can tap on a field and use graffiti to enter a number into that field.
vidal if you have specific ideas to improve the date time pickers, please post to the forum if you have not done so

Ed_Dombek James: And if I could assign a default icon to Birthdays and Anniversarys. . . . .
james Ed: Default icon for this data type can be added, I'll note this feature request
Ed_Dombek James: Awesome!

tyson how would you tell which day the event actually occurs on? show the actual event date too?
Ed_Dombek Tyson: Sure, why not? Maybe a different color or icon?

vidal This for canary, ddrinnon, and Ed. If there was one thing you could change about Agendus what would it be?
Ed_Dombek One thing: Add memos.
vidal Ed, tell us what you would like to do with memos.
Ed_Dombek Sometimes I want more information that I can put into a note. I'd like to link a memo to a contact or meeting.
Ed_Dombek Maybe even using QuickOffice products?

canary I would like to assign colors to event categories
adriano canary -> very soon

canary I would also like the 7 day grid to start with Today instead of Monday

ddrinnon I would appreciate more integration with outlook somehow, specifically the contacts sections. Many times I make an apointment with more than one person. I would like to be able to have more persons on the contact lin and have that sync with the contact fields in outlook.
james ddrinnon: we will be adding multiple contacts soon, though there aren't any conduits that would support this feature at this time.
ddrinnon I realize the sync software needs to be there to do this.
ddrinnon Wher would the contacts go in outlook? "subject" field?
Ed_Dombek Has iambic ever considered developing a conduit?
tyson contacts would go wherever the note field syncs to

vidal hi, ed, let me anwser both questions
vidal 1/ We have talked about linking memos and office documents internally. Its a great idea. We dont have any firm plans on when this will happen however.
vidal 2/ Conduit. We would also love to have our own Outlook conduits. This would solve many issues in Agendus. Unfortunately, to make something like that is a non trivial task.

Ed_Dombek I agree with both canary and ddrinnon

canary How about using the entry in the birthday field to calculate a person's age and zodiac sign, like in MS Entourage contacts
james That's a good idea, adding the age is in our to do list. Hadn't thought of Zodiac sign, interesting.

Lee Hi Josh, welcome.
josh hi; thanks.

Ed_Dombek FWIW I have to use IntelliSync with Notes. . . there HAS to be something better!
vidal I understand. I use Intellisync too. There is significant engineering work in Intellisync, and it is also guarded by many patents. Again, we would love to be able to offer our own Agendus savvy version someday. It would be a huge help.

canary If I delete todo's and events that are linked to a contact, they do not show up in contact history. Is there any way to have them in contact history? I don't mind that I cannot jump to the original entry since it is already deleted
tyson canary> sure, you can use logging. the log wont show up in the contact history, it is placed in the contact notes. making the contact history also parse and show the log would be neat.

vidal Once time allows, we're going to try to add this feature.
canary Yeah, that would be neat, less clutter.

ddrinnon This reminds me of something I would like... Meetings can not be set to automatically log. could you add an "auto log" meetings after date has pased?
james ddrinnon: we've thought of that and could do it, there is some concern though about the fact that it sort of makes the assumption that the meeting actually occurred. But assuming that's not a problem for people.

Lee Josh, do you have any questions for us?
Ed_Dombek I'm going to go. Are you going to post the transcript?
adriano Ed, yes transcript will be posted on the forums
Ed_Dombek Thanks! Bye everyone!

vidal Thanks for showing up! I think that wraps it unless anyone else has any questions
james thanks Ed!

canary Any idea when we will see another update to Agendus?
tyson (udpdates) i have some ideas. i dont know if they're right. lol
adriano we can't disclose you a specific date... but what we can tell you is "soon". You'll be surprised about what you'll find in the new version :)
canary Anything to whet our appetite?

josh I just discovered a nice idea on todo's -- you can specify 'today' 'past due' 'future' butnot quicly say "all up to today"
ddrinnon Off subject... Sales War?? updates?
vidal There are no plans for a SalesWarrior update right now.

josh well; just hte SMTP on sync issue...
ddrinnon Thank for the opportunity
josh and creating multiday appointments... that'd be nice. but I don't want to have to use outlook as my primary mail system...

josh and creating multiday appointments... that'd be nice. but I don't want to have to use outlook as my primary mail system...
tyson josh> for all up to today, you could use any of the day views. unfortunately there's no way to combine past due and today on the todo view. yet.
Lee Josh: if you mean repeating appointments, you can also use Palm desktop as the data source, not necessarily Outlook

canary Alright let's end this so that we can see Agendus Mail V4.
adriano Agendus Mail V4 -> is coming up in about 3 hours
adriano Agendus Mail beta... I missed that in my earlier post
josh that's fast.
canary Grrrrrrreat
tyson we aim to please

wusyc01 Is there going to be any support for SSL (IMAP and SMTP) in Agendus Mail?
adriano We are having some problem with SSL right now in AGMv4, so it won't be in the initial beta version, but it might show up later on.
wusyc01 Okay... good to hear that it is at least being considered and worked on for SSL. Would really love to have SSL.

josh I try to avoid outlook at all costs... I have repeating appts, I just mean "todo" list; when things get pastdue (which they often do) I like to just always see "today" + "past due"
james josh: that is a good point about receiving message in one account and sending out of another. This is not in v4 beta, we'll have to give this some thought.

vidal its 630, so its time's up on this one, folks... to those who didn't get thier questions answered our apologies. see you on the forums and at the next dev chat.
