Creating my own Quote Server without memo
He there. I would like to know how I can create my own quote server with out puting it in the memos. I would actually like to make a website be the quote server. Directing Agendus to it wouldn't be a problem, but making the website is what I am talking about. Thanks.

Quote SErver
Nope. I really didn't get anything. From the lack of response, it seems that it would require some specialized programming in web based stuff, which I don't have. Oh well.

The quote service is not just a web site - the service has its own protocol - it doesn't use HTTP etc. As far as I know the protocol is not published.

ConorN,
If this is the case, what's the use of the ability to change it?

To create your own daily thought. Perhaps a scripture of the day with some comments. Some organizations have booklets to that effect. I would like to put mine in agendus if I could.

My answer was mainly directed at the iambic staff. My intention is to create my own server with german quotes.

I'll try and get a response. But do note that it is a proprietry system. I imagine the server field is configurable for 'future' use - whatever that may be.

Hi All,
in order to retrieve the quote of the day, Agendus uses the standard QOTD protocol. This is why in the Quote of the Day dialog source, we allow users to specify any address.
Therefore, as long as you have a standard QOTD server reacheable from the internet, Agendus will be able to pick its quote.
For more info in the QOTD protocol (the simplest protocol, often used for basic connectivity testing purposes) see:

My applause to Iambic for using a standard (and well documented) mechanism for this!
