I tried Agendus on my new BB Storm: needs work
OK, last weekend I got a new Storm and ditched my Palm Treo. I did this because I was not happy with the Treo's web capabilities AND I knew that Iambic was supporting BB--I wanted my Agendus! After a week of learning the BB user interface and really enjoying it, I decided to download the trial of Agendus. I was nervous but ready to try it.
Argh.
First of all, I did have the problem with the keyboard that wouldn't go away. I did the fix listed on this site, and it worked. So far so good.
The Contacts capabilities aren't bad, but the Calendar--my #1 priority--is really awful. In the standard BB calendar's month view you can tap a day and go to the Day view. Can't do that in Agendus. And going to a particular date is really inconvenient--WAY too many clicks, totally not intuitive. In fact, Agendus doesn't seem to get the touch screen thing at all. And as another user reported, the birthdays and other annual dates all put themselves on the next day (e.g., 2/23 birthday went to 2/24). (I know the Iambic developers are working on that bug.) Agendus allowed me to choose to show icons in the Month view. But the icons weren't anywhere to be found. Now, that might be because I only downloaded a trial version--I think I recall that for the Palm you didn't get icons until you registered the app. But there's no message to that effect and that left me wondering. Having worked in tech I believe that if you're going to create a trial with limited capabilities it's better to let users know what wonderful things they'll get when they buy, instead of frustrating them by giving them a configuration option that doesn't work.
I will pay, and register, because I believe in supporting my favorite apps and developers. But I will likely not use this version of Agendus except for Contacts. I hope the Calendar functions continue to mature--I really, REALLY miss my Agendus!

We are working on Storm-specific issue as we speak....many have already been addressed. Do you have the very latest version? I ask because we had many Storm-specific fixes in the latest update.
As far as the compatibility issue...this is common for most 3rd party applications, and regarding it not working for you quigly, I'm not sure why because it has worked for everyone else.

Yes I just downld the latest update. I know others have had success with Agendus working on there storm but not I. I still get the split screen issue no matter what I do. I have followed the fix thread to no avail. BTW I two stroms at my disposal both do the same. Perhaps I should delete Agendus and reinstall? I'm sure this is a good product just wish I could find out.

Deleting, soft resetting and reinstalling wouldn't be a bad idea. After the restart, immediately go to Options and disable the Compatibility again and then launch AGBB.

I too just switched to Storm from Palm 650. I am frustrated with trying to get Agendus for Storm to work like my old Palm/Agendus. Is there a way to connect a task to a contact. ie. Next week I need to call/write a person in contact list. I too am trying to keep Outlook for sync'ing. I have been using Agendus since it was called was it "DateBook" probably 8-10 years. I need some help.

It seems that this forum is populated with people who have moved from palm to BB and have been disappointed with Agendus after such a great experience with the palm version. I would like to see a time line of projected development in order to make some important decisions regarding my pim needs.

Hello,
We are working on major new features for Agendus for Blackberry as we speak. Offering a time line (as is the case for any software company) is virtually impossible, as there are always unforseen road-blocks or changes in hardware or OS from RIM.
We will update everyone as soon as we can possibly provide some time frame.
Thanks for you anxiety for an updated Agendus...we hope to have something soon.

Michael,
Appreciate your update. Is there a way to attach either todo's to contacts or the other way around?
Frequently I need to follow up with phone calls to contacts. In the past with my Palm & Agendus I used todo's attached to contacts so extremely easy to look down my todo list click on the contact name & number & make phone call.
I just changed from my Treo 650 to the BlackBerry Storm. I cannot seem to attach todo's with contacts. I started reading your forum to see how other people with the Storm are doing. And also saw the post on Agendus for Windows. Crash at startup.
I also purchased Agendus for Windows in 2008 and had so many problems I discontinued using with my Treo. Yes I had the crashes each time I started Outlook. Finally gave up.
I am willing to help in trouble shooting/beta tester. I have developed significant software over the years & have been long user of Agendus as I mentioned above.
CU

Michael, Tec Support Need BB Agendus code
Michael, Tec Support
I need help. I just purchased Agendus for Blackberry. Sent link to Storm to download direct to phone. I then opened up Agendus & tried to enter code that was emailed to me but it did not work. Site kept taking me in circles trying to get another code. Still waiting. Message when I open Agendus on my Storm my demo has expired. I checked my products and BB Agendus not there. All of my Palm products are there.
Please help.
Thanks.

Just installed v1.21 on my storm. Better than BB offering but still needs work. Goto date in month mode does not work. Appointments in day mode not legible. Most important development is hotkey equivalents for touch screen (next or previous day/month/week) by swiping

Agendus for BB: Still not happenin'
I'm using a Storm, and I bought Agendus (yes, I have the latest version--just checked). But I'm not really using Agendus much yet because:
Performance is unbelievably slow. I have to press anything on the touch screen 2 or 3 times before it responds.
when I open to the Today view, I can only see the top 1/4 of the text for half-hour appointments. I have the font set at 7. It's just not okay that I can't read my events!
Going to a different view requires more clicks than the native app. Instead of going to Menu > Go To View, just list the views in the Menu. You can figure out a way to design it right, I have confidence in you guys.
Oh, yeah, and...
For editing recurring events, the message "Open this Occurance" is MISSPELLED. Occurence is the correct spelling. Now, you developers know you have to get the code right or the application won't compile, right? Words are your code for the wet-ware computer (brain). When the code isn't right, the brain has to pause to correct.
Thanks. I continue to hope, but am using Pocket Day right now.

Hi Nurseferatu,
We are working on improving the navigation for the Storm as we speak. As far as the slowness, we haven't really experienced any major perormance issues. Do you know how many records you have for each PIM type (Calendar, Contacts and Tasks)? How do you sync? (Outlook, Lotus, Google, Yahoo, etc.)
If you were to soft reset, then afterward, before doing anything else, launch Agendus is it still as slow?
As far the misspelling, we are aware. Incidentally, the correct spelling is occurrence (two R's)

Replies occur!
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your prompt response. I'll try the soft reset. I DO have a lot of records. And as for the spelling--Thanks for that, too. As a tech writer and UI contributor, I need to be humble and this kind of thing helps keep me that way. Thank goodness for spell-checkers!
